I am probably the minority that I don’t like tint, if I didn’t want people to see me I just stay in. I had it on one car, a long time ago and it killed night time visibility, I was never ticketed or even harassed about it, but don’t see much of a practical purpose when you can just wear sunglasses.
for those of you that dont know
i have 5% all around excl the front windshield lol, and sometimes no front NYS plate only a personalized Euro plate in the front
ive gotten pulled over about twice for each usually both at the same time
and in johnstown a no front plate ticket is 55$
the tint usually gets dropped!!
o and when they use the tint gauge on my windows it reads 2% which includes the factory tint they put on almost all cars!!
No they don’t dictate the law, they chose which laws they should implement and when. Now on a grand scheme of things that would sound wrong, but in traffic context it’s fine and is nothing new. Just like they don’t pull over cars that speed 5mph over the limit. Does that mean they dictate the law too? If that’s what you want to call it yes, but is that a bad thing that they use their judgment and let some people get away with slight speeding… no.
They also don’t chose to enforce the laws that are still on the books such as www.stupidlaws.com , which is also not a bad thing, because if I want to walk backwards on a sunday morning in front of the state capital while eating an icecream, I don’t want to get arrested :lol
Yes tint is terrible for night visibility but in my case it plays a major role in comfort. Its not about me trying not to be seen case Im trying to catch some road head, or trying to make a statement. I just like to feel my AC work on those 90* days when I rather not take the T-tops off and roll the windows down. It sucks sitting in a glass dome in July. I know from my 91 GTA that dark tint inhibits your vision, I backed over a curb and bent a control arm. How cool was I?? :idiots
yeah, it seems like some officers just go out of they’re way to hassle anybody in a “flashy” car. hell i even take off my baseball hat when i’m driving because they actually look for that type of stuff. talk about profiling to the max. i don’t want tint on either of my cars, just on the top of my windshield to block the sun.
One would argue that the law should be follow closely as it’s voted by the people and that’s the law for back of a better phrase. But, your post basically just agreed with me. Cops are deciding who/what to enforce. Somehow I doubt the frame writers intended for this to happen.
However, comparing speeding 5MPH and the tint is a bit different as one is absolute (I won’t issue tickets for 5MPH over the limit) while the other is something that they just decided one day to not enforce. Again, since when do they get the right to be judge/jury? Shouldn’t the courts decide this?
Sorry, I have no love for police whom break their own laws (cell phone, speed, right on lefts, rolling californias, double park, etc…). It makes me sick for someone to ticket others for the same laws they break themselves.
They are above the law… I agree, but as long as they dont give me a tint ticket they can run all the red lights they want and double park as they please.
Its insane that we get hassled for tint, ride height, exaust, ect. when there are much larger problems to worry about. I followed a drunk driver all the way down central ave as he drove in the oncoming lane of traffic and I got pulled over and herrassed later that night cause the cop thaught I was drunk and then threatened to give me a loud exaust ticket on my stock Formula.
last year around this time when i was comin back from getting my chip i got stopped way out west. the ticket was 15 bucks and like a 35 dollar surcharge. idk about multiples. im not taking off my tint, i just paid it. if u want i can scan and post my ticket to see exactly what its like if anyone needs to.
i agree. i see 5% or double layer 5% cop cars downtown all the damn time. its so blacked out its like its painted from inside. and i got stopped for 35%? :idiots explain that to me?
also theres one cop car(albany pd white with blue charger) with chrome rims on it. like 19s or 20s or something, idk. i didnt know theyre allowed to modifiy cars with nonregulation things. but i swear its rollin around with blingin rims. come visit me at work during lunch sometime this coming summer and we’ll see it outside goin by on Pearl st or on State St. I couldnt believe my eyes when i saw it roll by the first time.
A good example of a cop car with tint, is the Albany County Sheriff Charger, those windows on that are blacked the fuck out, you CAN NOT see into them one bit. :confused
every time i have got a tint ticket the officer had a lil tint meter thing that he put on my window(mind you these were both on my old eclipse) now my truck has 35% tint to match the back windows and i was pulled over once coming home from LVD and the cop just said yea my windows are tinted and let me go
