watch the videos i posted guys - HR45 is just the start of things, No it probably wont pass but it will just be the start of things.
Honestly you guys are so paranoid. I own a gun and have plans to get a pistol permit. I have no worries what so ever that the gov’t will come and get my guns.
I am against the AWB because I think its dumb.
I hate states that make it so easy to buy a hand gun but hate NY’s permit process hat makes it so hard.
I think no one should own an automatic.
And the people that really scare me are not the ones in Washington, but the ones who are terrified of Washington. Everyone has more to fear from domestic terrorist stockpiling their arsenals.
Hey a political thread! Gotta throw in my $0.02:
Fuck the news articles. Check his history. He’s worked to pass laws against guns in inner city Chicago. Bad idea? Fuck if I know. History of promoting anti-gun legislation? Yup.
 Just skimmed some more of this thread. Some of you guys are fucking retarded.
Gun laws are nothing more than a political football.
More gun laws don’t equal less crime. Less gun laws don’t equal checks and balances against a government with tanks and nukes.
I don’t know what it is about gun control but it brings out the worst of both parties. ugh.
Again there is no reason for civilians to own weapons … hunting is fine… but a justifiable reason to own them…
And self defense is a dumb reason
I think TORQSS hit the nail on the head. The current fear is about future restrictions, not an all-out ban.
ILC, wouldn’t it have been nice if the JEWS IN GERMANY were allowed to own weapons?
:picard:
Congress will never pass this.End of story.Did you even read the article?
"Within weeks, Rep. Michael A. Ross, D-Ark., had collected the signatures of 65 Democrats on a letter to Holder saying they “will continue to fight any efforts in Washington that restrict our right to own and bear arms.”
Without those 65 votes — and with House Republicans almost uniformly opposed to gun control — the House Democratic majority would be left nearly 30 votes short of what they would need to pass gun legislation.
“If 65 Democrats won’t vote for it, no matter how many Republicans vote for it, it isn’t going to pass,” said Joseph P. Tartaro of Buffalo, president of the Second Amendment Foundation. “Most of [the Democrats] remember that the 1994 assault weapon ban cost them control of Congress.”
But Chicago is not the whole US.
Its one thing if you live in Chicago or NYC its another thing if you live in a rural area.
Both cultures have a different view on guns because both cultures live their lives differently with guns.
I think Obama is smart enough to see the difference and again I fear the tin foil hat people more than the gov’t.
The citizens in Chicago who want to legally own a registered handgun need one far more than people living out in farm country.
Again you have too much faith in people. I see more people using these things when they are pissed off or drunk then for self defense.
If you feel the need to own a self defense weapon then buy a shotgun with a pistol grip.
Although I would like to hear what the people of Chicago have to say about such legislation for their own city. Instead of us speculating.
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
my opinion- I think in the next XX yrs you are going to see some sort of gun ban.All these nutjobs shooting everyone up isn’t helping either.
Remember 40 yrs ago if you said gays were going to get married in the U.S. I bet 99.9% would of disagreed with you and 100% of congress would’ve voted it down.
there isn’t an outright ban on gay marriage in the constitution though, contrary to banning guns.
Don’t get me started on the whole marriage issue.
Where is our militia? I want to join!
:picard: because they’re going to take the guns away from the national guard. let’s not wax poetic about one of the most outdated parts of the constitution.
It is each States responsibility to supply and Arm a militia. Hey Brian Higgins, where the fuck is my gun, bitch?
Wax poetic? I simply stated the amendment. I don’t see how any American could view it as outdated but you are entitled to your opinion.
I agree was just making more of a comment how peoples opinions, thoughts, morals change
Prior to the landmark supreme court decision in Heller I would have agreed with you, but now that the supreme court has ruled that the 2nd amendment guarantees an individual’s right to keep and bear arms I don’t see much chance of a gun ban going anywhere.
In fact, based on the articles I’ve been reading in American Rifleman the NRA is using Heller to go city by city to challenge bans.
My concern would be if Scalia, who’s 73, were to drop dead and team Obama/Pelosi/Reid got some uber liberal in to replace him. Right now with the Bush appointments of Roberts and Alito the court has finally shifted slight right. Heller is a prime example of the court using that new majority since it was a 5-4 decision. As a gun rights advocate it’s scary to think what could have happened had this case come before the court 3 years ago.
