Ugh…
It’s not outdated. The Supreme Court just ruled on it last year.

^Was ILC joking?
I can’t tell. He reposted with similar material, but I can’t tell if he’s srs or just trolling.
We need scalia to drop dead and Obama to appoint an uber-liberal of the pro-gun variety.
I just hate when someone says “Pistols aren’t illegal”, well of course they aren’t.
I just had to.
Of course I would love it they added some additional steps there. Maybe you should have to give them a DNA sample and maybe a child?
Think about this. I can go downtown and buy an unregistered .38 snub for $80.
Easier route?
Oh here in Texas all you need is your driver’s license to get a pistol. Though a driver’s licenses is a little harder to get here then NYS. You must get finger printed for it which they do at the DMV for free when you get your license. Oh and they don’t use ink like fggt NYS, they have electronic readers.
I enjoy target shooting, and I feel I have the right to be able to do it.
Both sides have Catch-22s about them. So it really is hard to justify one more so then the other.
A happy medium between those 2 is ideal. Making people wait a year for a gun is the suck, but it’s better than letting billy joe whackjob pick up a .45 at Wal-Mart to go “target shooting”. With human targets.
“…the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
Sounds like infringement to me. Rights don’t cost money.
Oh don’t you get it?
The right didn’t cost me anything.
It was the photos, finger printing, and processing that cost me.
Yeah right? (shakes head)
A restaurant my not charge you for water, but they sure can charge you for the cup.
NY may be too strict.
But Texas is too laxed.
There should be a happy medium.
I really only have two problems with the handgun system in NY.
The time it takes. A year or more is complete bullshit in this day and age of near instant background checks. They take year to discourage people from bothering to apply. It should take a month at the most and for every day past that month the state should be fined $XX for violating your 2nd amendment rights.
The fact that they will only give you target and hunting, then 2-3 years later let you apply for concealed carry. If after a year of probing my background, interviewing me with my local PD and talking to four character references you can’t find any reason I shouldn’t own a handgun don’t tell me I can’t carry it.
These are both county issues though, not state.
I really don’t care about the cost. I’ve got about $170 invested in the process right now and I think that’s fair. If $170 is that much of a hardship what handguns do you honestly think you can afford?
^ You’re right about it being a PITA deterring people from applying. I’ve had my papers filled out and ready to go for over a year and I keep putting it off due to the cost and hassle. That and it’s just not that important to me at this point in my life.
I think the handgun system in niagara county would be reasonable to push out nationwide. Maybe a little more expedited where it was promised within a month.
I also think people should start hitting Collins to try to address the erie county system. He’s a Republican and he ran on making Erie County more like a business, and less bureaucratic red tape. Our current process is red tape and a clear case where the business is doing an inadequate job. Let’s see him put his money where his mouth is.
He’s got bigger fish to fry…

And apparently is willing to put his money where his mouth is.
yes why address the county being screwed when you can campaign against the people you have to work with every day. I don’t know the other 2 but I knew Poloncarz from when I was at Canisius and he’s a stand up guy. Collins’ problem with him is that he’s too fiscally responsible and audits collins’ purchases too much.
Good read.
Hard to change much when you have obstructionists in your way. The only way to effect change in a political landscape like NY is to remove the obstructions.
You hit the nail on the head with that one. Ideologues, whether in Washington or Albany are useless people.
:word: It’s a shame that after Franken is seated we’ll effectively have one republican senator stalling the nation’s progress for the next year and a half.
