Where is everyone?
As somewhat (sadly) expected, the Ice Bowl was a hugely overhyped, shitty game. The ice conditions were terrible. It was a terribly bad showing, IMO, of hockey to the general US public.

I’m guessing on their way home still.
I thought it was pretty damn cool. As for the ice situation, what can you do, mother nature had control. They seemed to be doing everything they could to help the situation. It was cool to have the game here and over 73,000 people at the Ralph and what looked like 10-14k at HSBC.
And it looked like most the crowd was still there into the end of the shootout too.
And like usual, NBC was on the Pittsburgh/Crosby bandwagon from 1:00 on.
bad showing??? were u there?, lol didn’t look like a disappointment to me
I was there, even had real good seats(box) and i thought it was of lame. The idea was real cool and the stadium/rink looked awesome, it just wasn’t a real fun game to watch. The game felt like it was dragging on and on with every ice repair/Zamboni/corner cleaning, a lot of watching nothing. The view obviously wasn’t as good as HSBC but you had no depth perception for most of the close to the net play. Not being able to hear the whistle was another big annoyance.
a disappointment?
I’m quite confident they will never have a Out Door game ever again. It simply sucked, (i watched on TV) Reasons…
NBC = Disgrace
I was not there, I’m sure the atmosphere there was great. However, I’m speaking to what the general Jim Bob middle American saw on TV. Unfortunately, television does very little to convey the atmosphere that was there. Hockey had a good chance to get out into the US mainstream with this game, and with the poor ice conditions we didnt see the level of play that we might have on a well prepared surface, and the game stoppages, poor play, etc that ensued from the bad surface made it look like a college or highschool game at points. Not to mention NBCs terrible announcing.
totally agree… I told my friends that during the game… it was pretty much unanimous
Dear NBC, Please get off of Crosby’s nuts.
Thanks
America
i havnt watched it yet, i will later.
The game went quite well. The people loved it and even the NHL officials commented on how well things went. You can’t expect the conditions of the ice to be pristine with constant snow and abuse. The ice itself was a lot thinner than the ice in the arena.
As for the speed of play, what do you expect? The ice is slow, the wind holds the players up and cold outdoor air is more taxing than the warm air that they are used to inside. Their muscles cool off faster and they stiffen up with every line change. They even had heated benches for the players to try and help out.
Common sense people
Ok so think of how the game looked to people who aren’t hardcore hockey fans? (the point, no?)
Shitty.
I’m well aware of all the variables that contributed to how the game turned out, and I understand, but for showcasing hockey, this didnt measure up.
This didnt even get a mention on the Nightly News.
man, that sucked but life goes on. At least there were a few nice hits though
hahaha  no shit. Between the retarded amount of commercials, delayed game time for “ice repair” and the announcers sucking Crosby’s cock from start to finish, I was a little disappointed. NBC sucks a bag of dicks
should of went instead of selling the tickets
Looked entertaining to me and I don’t watch a ton of hockey. I thought it was a good game.
I don’t follow Hockey at all and thought it wasn’t all that bad for trying something new. That might be because I was with Mario Lemieux and his family for a while, I got paid a boatload to be their, and because I got free gear though.
There is one thing that most people who went will agree with. The fans at this game were much better to be around and more respectable than those at a football game. They were just better behaved in general.
The ice fixing was annoying but overall the game was great to be there and watch. Sucks that we lost considering we were the better team .
This event got World Wide coverage btw. We had almost 2 dozen reporters from the other side of the globe.
Crosby is the NHL’s poster boy, kinda like Brady and the NHL, neither can do wrong.
