yes sir!
goin to the game tonight!
let you guys know how they look and how hard malone got boooooed
i heard neither he nor roberts made the trip.
well i know its preseason but i would have liked it to atleast be broadcast on the internet. All i got were period updates. Shawn you were there how did they play?
yeah unfortuneately no malone, roberts or hall, or even recchi for that matter. we lost 5-4 in a shootout, but it was just as exciting as any other game even with the abscence of people like Talbot, Fedotenko, Scuderi…etc…Satan, Crosby, and Dupuis already seem to be working well together, and Eric Godard is already proving he is just as much of an enforcer as Laraque was. Gonchar got hurt in a a hit by #33 on the lightning (i can’t remember his name for the life of me but i’m thinking Koci) the next play Godard and #33 dropped the gloves and Godard beat the brakes off him haha. Ryan Stone was also involved in a decent fight with Konopka. Orpik was handing out free candy all night as usual haha. Gonchar did not return to the game after the 1st period hit, extent of injury i don’t know. Lookin good for us though. LET’S GO PENS!
cool thanx for the recap
haha free candy, everytime i hear about a player giving out free candy it makes me laugh
no one gives out free candy quite like brooks though haha i’m so glad we were able to keep him
sounds like a decent game. How was the crowd? How close to a sellout was it.
Sat I got tix to the Det Game and the last home game of the season against NYI. It was crazy as usual and all that was available by the time I got through was standing room only. Oh well I am happy to get in the door. So far I got tix to 9 games and I am sure I will get a few more along the way…
the crowd was somewhere around 16,500. did you happen to catch the updates on the pens webpage? if not go look at the penalty log, you would think it was actually a UFC event haha. If things keep up this way between the pens and the lightning it may overtake the brutality we see in the filthy flyers games haha
Gonchar out indefinitely…sweet. Whitney out till like Dec or Jan and now Gonchar can be out just as long with a dislocated shoulder. It’s time for Letang and Goligoski to step it up. Letang looks like he can be a scoring threat if he would start shooting the puck instead of fake shooting it and passing shit…and this is a chance for Goligoski to prove he is the real deal…It may be a little rough at first but I hope/think we may be fine until these guys are healthy. One “good” thing is at least this is early and not late in the season…so even if we start out a little slow then we will have time to get back on the ball once these guys are healthy.

Gonchar out indefinitely
Wednesday, September 24, 2008
By Dave Molinari, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Penguins defenseman Sergei Gonchar will be sidelined indefinitely while recovering from a dislocated left shoulder. There was no immediate word on whether he will have surgery, and general manager Ray Shero said this evening that it is too early to speculate on when he might be able to return to the lineup.
Gonchar was injured when he was checked into the boards by Tampa Bay winger David Koci during an exhibition game at Mellon Arena last Saturday.
Gonchar is the second Penguins defenseman who will be out of the lineup when the regular season begins Oct. 4. Ryan Whitney, who is recovering from foot surgery, is not expected to play until December.
Kris Letang and Alex Goligoski are the favorites to inherit most of the offensive responsibilities usually shouldered by those two.
“We have guys capable of stepping in,” said center Sidney Crosby, himself nursing a minor groin strain.
"[Whitney and Gonchar represent] big holes to fill, but we have to have guys step up.
“It’s a similar situation to last year, when we had guys missing and a lot of guys stepped up.”
The Penguins will open the regular season with a pair of games against Ottawa in Stockholm, Sweden Oct. 4 and 5.
he’s not. average at best.
letang looks good this year. eaton is back, and i think orpik is playing better than where he was last year.
sucks about Gonchar, but i doubt you’ll even notice ryan whitney is missing.
Whitney needs to get back to where he was in 06-07.
i don’t think whitney fits in with the team as well as some of the younger kids from the minors who are hungry for the oppurtunity, it seems like he just isn’t 100% ever.
Word is Gonchar will be out 6 weeks to 6 months. If he get surgery the typical recovery time is 4-6 months and if doesnt get surgery and it heals good then he can be back in little as 6 weeks. He went to two doctors and one said he needs surgery and the other said he doesntgoing on Monday to see a thrird before me makes his final decision. I hope this is similar to Geno’s in 06 where he was back in 8 games or so and was dominate…
Defenseman Sergei Gonchar will see another doctor Monday about his dislocated left shoulder because the two he has seen are split on whether he needs surgery. “I want to get as much information as I can before making a decision,” said Gonchar, who was hurt Saturday early in the team’s first preseason game and is out indefinitely. “I was very frustrated. I felt like I had a good summer and I was ready for the season.” … Center and captain Sidney Crosby, who sat out the preseason game Wednesday against Tampa Bay because of a sore groin, practiced yesterday and hopes to be in the lineup tonight at Toronto. “It feels pretty good,” he said. “I want to play as much as I can before we start.” … Coach Michel Therrien (broken ribs) returned to practice.
Shelly Anderson can be reached
Crosby is playing tonight…good sign I guess.
Tyler Kennedy got signed to a 2 year extension…that kid earned it, he played hard as hell last season.
