I thought there was an update that fixed the connectivity issues with it? Do you have an update available or is it not out to the masses yet?
Juice defender is silly. All it does is turn off data. What’s the point of better battery life at the direct cost of functionality? I’ll use it if I’m traveling all day or something but it sucks for daily use. But that’s how it is with any 4G phone. I’m just surprised people will tolerate a cell phone with 8 hours of battery life.
Something tells me that’s what’s delaying the new blackberries. RIM’s never been willing to sacrifice battery life, and now they’re saying they’re delaying their BB10 phones until the end of 2012 because they’re waiting for some special 4G dual core chip…
Fry, update hasn’t been pushed out yet, but there are some ROMs with the update available.
On the subject of battery life we have to, at some point, just admit that increased data speeds and increased screen sizes are going to use more battery. It’s just plain and simple. Maybe this is why Apple is still sticking to 3.5" and 3G? I just don’t think we can expect to have data flowing at insanely fast speeds without using significant battery life.
Using 4G, bigger and brighter screens, it only makes sense that battery life suffers. I guess in turn, they could have thrown a bigger battery in to accommodate this. I usually have WiFi on at my house, last night I switched WiFi off and went to 4G in the Tonawandas for about 30 seconds, then it dropped signal, so I switched to CDMA only and couldn’t get a signal at all. Something is fucked up there.
Sure I understand why it happens, I just don’t consider not being able to go from the time I wake up to the time I go to bed on a single charge with moderate use acceptable for a cell phone. So maybe I won’t get to have a 4G phone with a 5" screen until power management and battery technology catches up. Oh well, it’s probably only a matter of months.
I liked it. I used it for 1.5 years on my Incredible and honestly had no complaints about it at all. Maybe that’s only cuz I’m not really into the phone-fuck-nerd thing. It did exactly as I needed and desired – tripled the battery life and let me hit the internet when I needed to. I don’t need data flowing 24x7.
Now this is what I’m looking for. A dual core 4G phone that promises 60 hours of use thanks to a 3300mah battery and some creative software. I actually like the shape better than the original droid razr. Smoother even if the non-hump part is a bit thicker.
Yeah this may have me switching to Verizon. I still dont see how manufacturers insist on pumping out larger and larger screens without addressing the battery issue.
Even better. Supposedly the Galaxy Note is coming to Verizon. 5.3" tab/phone hybrid with a built in stylus and some samsung software that actually works pretty well together. 1.5ghz dual core processor, and super amoled display.
That will probably be my next phone. I use my phone more as a tablet anyway so a phone that’s more tablet makes sense. It’s still thin enough to stuff in a pocket in a pinch, though there’s more evidence all the time that carrying it in your pocket isn’t good for your nuts so being more apt to throw it in my briefcase and/or leave it on a table rather than in my pocket is win/win.
Getting two new Galaxy Nexuses shipped from Samsung. Used Samsung’s twitter support, did a hard reset on both phones and they’re still experiencing problems. Mine currently has no sound in any media (videos, music) or in calls both incoming and outgoing. Worked with Jeff (GeeHee) over at his store and he helped me and the fiancee get replacement phones. Big thanks to him for that. If you’re on verizon and not getting phones and stuff from Jeff, you’re wasting your time.
