Official Android thread

Depends on carrier, but the Samsung Galaxy S3, Google Nexus 4 and Motorola Razr Maxx HD are on top right now. If you’re on Verizon, the Nexus 4 is not an option.

Nexus 4 is only available on GSM systems (AT&T or T-Mobile)

however, the Nexus 4 is built on the LG optimus G chassis…which is a phenominal phone and what I would get if I was eligible for an upgrade right now.

AT&T/T-mobile, go on google play and buy the Nexus 4

Verizon: Razr Maxx HD

Sprint: LG Optimus G of Samsung Galaxy S3

Other providers: get a real fucking cellphone plan

I don’t trust LG for upgrades or bug/security fixes. They haven’t been in the game long enough. So they don’t make my favorites list.

And before you say anything, BED is THE MOST computer illiterate person on the planet, so he will not be romming/rooting the device.

So I was going to make the switch from iPhone to Nexus 4 however it doesn’t support LTE which is a deal breaker for upgrading.

It does in Canada…kinda. But yeah. And it won’t be getting it either (via software)

agreed LZ

This falls under my I won’t hack my primary phone category.

Buying stuff directly from google means I won’t wait on carriers for OS upgrades I just don’t understand why they would leave out LTE.

LOL false…See Galaxy Nexus (Fuck Verizon)

btw whatever new update that came out for the Nexus 7 added a bunch of new cards to Google Now.

good stuff

It’s ok on a tablet with wifi however it would be super useful on a phone with data.

Thanks guys. There are at least 20 people less computer literate than me, I know this because they work for me. lol

Which one has the largest or best display for us old people?

The Droid DNA has a full 1080p screen. Galaxy SIII also has a good sized screen.

Was not available directly from Google for Verizon though. You had to buy through VZW.

True, but it was supposed to be a pure Google phone…I do like my AOKP rom on though. Changes the soft key colors so easily.

With the current insane phone release schedule the Nexus 4 with LTE has to be out in the next 6 months.

Is the Samsung Galxy Note available on your carrier B.E.D? the screen is massive, bettery is huge, and it should be pretty damn easy to use.

I know for someone like B.E.D. the LG optimus G isn’t exactly going to be user-friendly without rooting/flashing…

but aside from getting the monstrous Note II the specs that matter (I.E. battery life, camera, etc.) blow the competition away… but I know LG is behind the mark on upgrades and bug/security fixes…but I believe that is why google is “holding their hand” and using them to build the Nexus 4 (using the optimus as the basis for the development).

Either way for users that root/rom the Optimus G is an AWESOME device to build on

It’s available for VZ. It just has an ugly Verizon logo on the home button. …Ewww sprint.

I have no choice but to stay with sprint… all the cellular providers are jacking rates through the roof. A basic spartphone plan for a single line such as mine is $120 base price on ANY of the big three providers. I’m grandfathered on a $69.99 unlimited plan and get a 19% discount for my employer so I’m paying ~$80/mo after taxes and insurance on the phone.

basically I’ll be stuck on sprint until there is a female permanently in my life where I can do a family plan LOL

Be careful what you wish for when you say “largest”. The screen size race is a little out of control right now. The S3 is about as large as I’d want my phone to get. A coworker was showing me his new Note 2 and it’s just too big. Talking it on feels like you’re holding an ipad to the side of your face.

BED, if you’re on Verizon go play with a Galaxy S III, Galaxy Note II, RAZR Maxx HD, Droid DNA and iphone 5. They’re all great and all a little different. Get whatever appeals to you most.

Given your aversion to computers I can’t help but think an iphone would be a million times more enjoyable for you to live with than the others.

Mike, RAZR Max… Otterbox comuter case, and be done with it. You’re familiar with the Droid, so stick with Motorola. Maxx is bigger than the OG droid and you won’t be tethered to a charger with battery issues. Buy one b/c it works, not b/c it’s the bestest greatest.
