Official Android thread

in 6 months? I heard the Hero is good but everything leading up to is has dollar store cell phone quality and every moving part they insisted on putting in their phones in the past has felt like it was going to break. They are just shotty.

G1 is also very bad ass…

You honestly think Google would release their flagship mobile os on a platform for which they had no confidence in, and furthermore, leave it exclusively on HTC devices for an entire year? As geehee said, Google has overlooked the hardware before they put these things on the market. They knew this OS was too valuable and had too much potential to ruin it with bad word of mouth based on its inability to run because of the hardware.

when google did their big conference about android they showed it on the htc diamond. i judt never liked the feel of any of their phones. They may have built a few good ones but they always felt cheap to me.

After seeing the google turn by turn I am pissed that I just spent a lot of $$ on new bb’s

is this going to be filled with VZW garbage software?

No… the google android software is the software.

my cousin texted me a little while ago informing me that his verizon store just got an android in to demo, im gonna go check it out tomorrow

Anyword on an unlock models being sold yet? I am still using my unlocked Motorola MPX300 engineering prototype.

Akuma

This thing is going to kick ass.

it’s a CDMA phone bro.

Just PM Geehee for an unlock code and it will work LOL!

:purextc:

it won’t beat the iphone. This looks more promising towards the corporate end than the average user. The main thing Iphone has going for it is the ease of use for everyone. Its a plug and play.

This basically looks like a hyped up Blackberry, just like the storm. Verizons customer base would double two-fold if they would pick up the iphone already.

loljuat

it is FAR from a corporate phone

i actually read this morning that a GSM multi-touch capable droid is coming, though i don’t recall seeing it coming to the states. to be fair, i don’t think that was announced when you made that post.

android has me intrigued. blackberry never did it for me. mostly the horrendous browser. the open platform of android has a lot of potential. if apple doesn’t do something crazy for the next iphone, my contract will be up, and i’ll drop my 3GS i think to go to an android phone if the apps really fall into place to a point that i think they can be considered a competitor with the apple app store.

Lol obviously you have never used Android…

thanks, you are the newest person on my “doesnt know shit about phones” list.

he has a point. A sixty five year old can use an iphone, android is much more involved to use. iphone has succeeded in making smartphone users out of people who would normally have no interest in a smartphone.

:tif: at best. I’ll argue my point tomorrow at work.
