Official Android thread

LOL.

Wow seeing some of the side by sides of the droid x to other phones, I am kinda digging it. May need to wait till july when everything comes out and check each one out. Seems verizon is pushing incredible pre orders into changing to a droid x so wonder if the incredible will be end of sale sometime soon and replaced.

Has anyone done the 2.1 “upgrade” on the hero? My phones been a total frickin nightmare since I did it. Ive done a re-install of the software per htc’s suggestion. Ive had sprint re-set i 2 times, Ive reset i a dozen times. Its very laggy, reboots sporadically, delays in answering calls and making calls, internet doesnt always work (gotta turn it off and on for it to work). Ive checked multiple sites and this seems to be common. Just want to see if anyone else has this problem and got farther then me with sprint or htc… Ive talked to both multiple times and they never offered a resoultion to my complaints.

I have a hero, did the 2.1-update 1, and haven’t had any problems.

where did you download from HTC or sprint?

2.1 update 1
software… 2.27.651.6

Through the phone, I did the Check for system updates iirc.

Same update and software number.

All it did adversely was reset some of my widgets…

Now Im really confused. I havent changed or added any apps after the update. Same apps as before the update. It just freaked out a minute ago after I opened the dial pad. Im at a loss.

Sorry I can’t be of more help. Mine has been the same before and after the update, no rebooting and no problems with apps or internet. It isn’t overly laggy imo.

I did just get it a few weeks ago though, not sure how old your phone is for comparison.

phil…if you have done hard resets and its still an issue…i would just go back to 1.6 to be honest… or root your phone and install a custom rom with 2.2 on it

For you book worms out there:

Free Kindle for Android App Now Available

Amazon’s selection of free Kindle apps expands today to include Kindle for Android, giving readers the freedom and flexibility to read and sync their books across a wide range of devices

I think I a skipping that an going straight to the wifi nook. E ink is just so much better and it runs android.

I love it!

Also…
Android 3.0??

If the X wasn’t so large I would just get that instead…I don’t feel like carrying a mini-ipad around with me though

now i dont know about getting the droid x after seeing what engadget said about 3.0 where it is suppose to only be able to run with a minimum of 1ghz processor and if thats true then this phone wont last long with following updates

I think thats just a way of sayin if you don’t have a n1, inc, droidx, or evo you will not get this update.

I couldn’t take it anymore…rooted and installed froyo

Is it awesome?

couldn’t wait a few more days?

its probably just the rom that i have installed but i dont think it is anything to get overly excited about except for having flash because that sure does come in handy. I often find that my phone freezes a lot and takes a while to start up to where it is usable but like i said it is probably the rom itself that is the problem

now that I have root, I doubt I am going back to stock. Wireless Tether for root is the balls. F verizon’s $20/month BS

Froyo is pretty good. Nothing breathtaking though. It’s a minor upgrade, and Verizon is sure to cripple the built-in tethering options.

Also, one big thing I was looking forward to is FULL activesync support for exchange, but there are still some policies that haven’t been implemented, and my organization requires just about everything, so I am still fucking stuck using touchdown. So that’s definitely a letdown.

pretty funny. kinda long though
