the fascinate has a killer screen and is as fast as the other phones out there but there is still lingering problems with gps and stuff. droid x has a big screen, some message problems and 2.2 runs a little buggy plus the whole efuze thing but that is not too much of a problem anymore. the incredible is probably what i would go for right now because there are not too many problems with it plus it can be rooted no problem if you are into that, it has a decent screen too but not as good as the fascinate. also the incredible does not have as much on phone storage as the others do
I love my X. You get used to the size in no time. Fits great in the pocket and is really nice to actually hold in your hand. My sister has the incredible and I love that phone also. The fascinate felt to cheap to me. Seemed like if you dropped it it would just break into little pieces. I would go and mess around with both phones then decide. Good luck.
So I have an Incredible with a busted screen, but otherwise fully functioning. I’d like to get my photos off of it and for some reason they weren’t being saved to the SD card, but to the phone’s internal memory. I attached the phone to my pc via USB, but since the screen is busted I can’t select the option to mount the phone… so there is my problem. Bitpim is a thing of the past, so i can’t access my files with that. Any other suggestions? ProgRocker, i’m SURE you have the answer
I lost my pics for the exact same reason, I couldnt select attached storage mode on the phone when I plugged it in. I guess you could plug a good one in and mark the exact part on the screen you touch to add it. Im still pissed that I lost those but I broke my phone the 2 days before I went on a week vacation. Got the replacement and had to send the bad one back before I left. It didn’t leave me much time to mess around with it.
Just picked up the Captivate last night. Still playing around with it. Am I completely missing the boat or does Android not have an easy way to sync with Outlook? Every Smartphone since my Nokia 3600 has been super easy to sync contacts and calendar, this thing I had to upload everything to a gmail account I don’t use, which stripped a bunch of functionality out of my contacts, and keeping them synced seems like a PITA
I’m on my second X. The speakerphone mic didn’t work on the first. The 4 home buttons on the replacement one don’t light up but I actually prefer it this way. I read books on it in bed in the dark while my wife sleeps and the buttons didn’t dim. So you could dim the screen comfortably but you’d still have the buttons blinding you while you read.
I haven’t had any problems with 2.2 on the X.

AFAIK there’s no native way. Google’s forcing you into the cloud.

Is the screen readable at all? If you mount the Phone do you get the DCIM folder?
Exchange Server or No? If so just setup a mail account through your Accounts, it should give you an option for “Corporate”. If you can do eschange then you should get your calander and GAL.
So you guys are saying don’t run ATK on 2.2 for Droid X? I’ve had my X for maybe 2 weeks now, and I love it coming from an env2. The screen/colors are not as eye popping as other droid phones, but the colors are very true. I read a lot of reviews and decided on it over the Incredible, and have been happy with my choice so far. It has been a little buggy maybe twice during the time I’ve owned it. No real problems, and I really do like the screen size for reading and whatnot.
New update for the facebook app, you may need to go into the market to grab it. It’s a manual update. They’ve added groups and places (finally).
No real need to run ATK on 2.2. Also check for a system update all you Droid X users. Some, if not all should see a 2.3 update. Motorola even admits their 2.2 build was buggy.
so I just discovered this thing called rooting for my Samsung Moment with Andriod 2.1
I get two days out of a battery now, none of the BS stock apps that are non-deleteable, and I was able to load a custom ROM to the phone for different scrolling features and color themes for menus and shit. Its awesome haha.
Yeah, so do the ones from Verizon, T-Mobile, etc. But you really shouldn’t notice too much of a battery change with them running. I still have mine on my droid. The battery killers are display brightness, account sync frequency, and wi-fi/bluetooth/gps.
