Official Android thread

They’re afraid to admit that Apple has got them by the balls. I don’t blame them.

are the droids still available or are they sold out errwhere? I may go get one after hockey

seemingly pretty available. they might have nailed the launch this time…

lol, they’re available because nobody is buying them

I really think they made a huge mistake by NOT showing it off in the commercials.

yeah i agree, too much mystery and only people that know about android and its capabilities really know about it. They started the first commercial really well with pointing out the flaws of the iphone but didn’t really show what it could do.

Are the chances good that an update to 2.0 will be available soon for the eris? Best to wait until then to be sure?

They will probably update to 2.0 sometime in 2010…Their sense UI will need to be ported to 2.0. The API for 2.0 hasn’t been out for very long, so they are probably not very far along as far as development goes.

The last couple posts pretty much sums it up. I first saw those commercials and if I didn’t already know about the phone, I would have a big WTF look on my face. The phone will probably sell really well to the corporate crowd because they will get a $600.00 phone paid for by the company. In todays economy, who is gonna drop that much money on a phone if they don’t have an upgrade available when it launches.

I have been using my droid all morning…I still think the iPhone flows better but the Droid has some cool features.

all serious smarthphones cost that much off contract. iPhone is the same dummy.

Obviously, however when iphone first came out, the software and concept were new to the world hence why they sold millions the first weekend it came out. People flocked to At&T like rednecks flock to kmart. Nothing with this phone has is new and exciting.

I better be carefull here though, the nerd police are gonna rip me apart if I bad mouth verizon. I wasnt saying this phone isn’t going to be successful, it just wouldnt be a smart choice for any consumer unless they have an upgrade. I’m sure iphone users arent going to switch over to verizon any time soon.

there is not a single device sold on ANY carrier, that is worth buying flat-out off-contract (smartphone or not). The contract prices are THAT good, and to wait 1 year is not a big deal.

I agree in part though. The iphone was the first of it’s kind. It was innovative, and quickly took the throne. All other’s are playing catch-up at the moment.

WIN!

you can bad mouth VZW all you want, i dont care.

what I do care about is you posting inaccurate information.

“Dan Lesser
How do you have a droid…considering it just came out a couple hours ago? And I also have a touch, which is basically the same thing as an iphone. Impressive sure… but it has WAY more downfalls for practical use than the droid from what I can see. And let’s not even get into the battery life, call quality, camera, tendency to crash, and the lack of an actual keyboard…”

You know I usually defend Dan for acting like a dick over Viper shit…but srsly? He got Droid and obviously I can’t have one because OMGZ just they came out.

I have a verizon, I’m not badmouthing them. When I leave them, I always end up coming back because their service is top notch.I had an iphone, I had 0-1 bar everywhere I went and dropped a shitload of calls when I had it. I think some of you took my posts way to seriously and need to relax a bit.

I agree the battery life blew major ass with the Iphone. 2 calls and im at 50% life (loljuat) One thing thats impressive with the droid is the huge battery they equipped with it.

dude, do you always flip flop so much?

this is funny, on the iphone call quality comments. I do not have a single issue with the call quality on my iphone, never have. Somebody must of read one too many reviews instead of actually using one to make a call.

I still don’t like the browser on the Android :frowning:

I need to sit down and see what other cool apps I can find.
