After doing some more typing on the keyboard it sucks…keys are way to close together.
I can type much faster on the touch screen keyboard it gives you.
i just left the verizon store and next saturday i will be picking up the HTC Driod Eris. Its practically the same phone with capabilities and all it just doesnt have a slide down key pad, and its $100 cheaper. very bright, clear screen, fast internet -That phone is sweeeeeet
soooooo any advice switching over to the droid from the samsung omnia? hopefully this doesn’t open a can of worms and I may have missed the windows mobile to google and the samsung to motorola debate, but Im considering buying this phone.
Posting this from the Droid. I am impressed.doubt ill be getting an Eris tho. Droid blows it away. I agree with lz tho, the landscape on screen. Keyboard is better than the physical.
i got the droid today…no complaints yet. its absolutely amazing.
i tried it out today and i was impressed with it but i did not like the physical keyboard, too bad the plans are a little out of my range right now
kevin i love you but seriously compared to the samsung our work used to supply the iphone has much worse quality. Like i said i have to repeat myself often to co workers that use the iphone and i never had to do that before.
yeah but the droid os is upgraded so its not really the same phone.

Was watching a video on droid’s website about LongPress - is it an app or something that the phone is programmed with? Either way it looked really impressive. Touching and holding the screen on a picture, contact, email address, song etc would pull up it’s own drop down menu of options do to like “copy” for an address or quick associate a picture for a contact, then it allows you to crop it the way you want. So is this Droid OS specific or Moto Droid specific?
I’m eligible for NE2 in the spring, I’m sure they’ll have some sweet phones and maybe updates available then. I was thinking between Moto and HTC, so I’ll keep researching.
Shall we talk about apps we like? So far my most useful is the TasKiller. Makes it so easy to close instead of going through the settings.
Also the Slacker radio app works really good
I don’t know anything about the apps, maybe I should look through their listings or whatever and get familiar before I jump into one.
apps are just little programs written to do whatever you are looking for. from games to sports scores. not much to look into
Do you need a data plan for this phone…if not I might get this come January.
HTC eris will be getting 2.0 before the end of the year but im still stuck on which one to get. the eris felt nice but the browser on the droid was soooo much better. I will probably get the droid anyways lol.
I think they will require data plans because they have full web browsers. Don’t quote me but I believe that’s what the rep said when I was inquiring about them a while back. As for the apps, I just meant I’d look into seeing what was worth having vs what wasn’t.
Why would you get a phone like this with out a data plan???
BTW PM Evolve he can usually get you a free data plan he works for Verizon.
Actually, apps are everything to look into. The open source market is the selling point of Android. There are multiple multiple websites designed for addressing and reviewing apps.
I love that all it took was for a noteworthy carrier and maker to produce an Android device and now everyone hops on. By no means am I angry about this, as I have known from the beginning Android is here to stay. As Daddie said, Google is the MS of this decade and this device (with all the right pieces in place) may be the flagship device to let the word out.
The IPhone did revolutionize the smartphone market but ill give it 1 year or less before Google is absolutely on its tail.
