Official Android thread

Atrix drops on the 22nd. Pre-orders should have them by the 21st. Its to bad ATT screwed up the pricing for the laptop dock and seems to require tethering in order to use it. Its still a badass phone, ill probably be picking one up next week.

edit: If anyone works for att post up and ill come buy it from you.

Just downloaded dolphin browser today, like it a lot so far.

I was going to give Android a shot with the Atrix. Noticed that Netflix may not be coming to Android phones already out. Anyone know anything different? Would really like to give the Atrix a shot.

Anyone use the TweetDeck app for android? My battery was draining like a mother fucker, as in the phone was dying like twice a day after charging. After having have a battery left, then 10 minutes going by and having the red light blinking at me, I checked to see what was eating up the battery and at 31% was TweetDeck, and that was after a couple phone reboots and not re-opening it.

Still debating rooting the phone.

Ive had the atrix since launch. So far so good, love the phone.

I use it with no issues.

I removed it last night so I’m going to see the change in battery usage today.

Do you have the laptop dock? If so, what do you think?

this.

although i don’t blame you if you didn’t get it, you can get a pretty nice laptop for $500.

Thinking about rooting. Anyone use apex, rubix, or liberty? Any other good options out there? Just trying to read up on it.

I’m back on liberty. Installed 1.0 and it was good, pretty fast and stable. When I installed 1.5 at first it was all sorts of unstable, so I went back to stock, and when that sucked I decided to try a fresh install of 1.5. It’s been pretty solid since then.

Why would you think about rooting? There’s no down side. You run a free app and then have more permissions than you used to.

getting warranty help through the carrier (not the manuf.) can be tricky after rooting.

I actually just switched back to the stock rom on my droid X, because for some odd reason when i install the liberty rom my dads calls get automatically routed to my voicemail lol.

I went back to stock rom from liberty 1.5 (thanks Fry). My battery life went up substantially when I went back. On liberty I was getting MAYBE 18 hours of battery life, whereas on stock I can go 2-3 days with ease

So now I’m on stock RoM rooted with launcherproplus

I did not get the laptop dock for one reason, cost. It’s not worth the money for a screen and a key board and im going to pay the tethering fee when in reality it’s not tethering. If they didn’t add the tethering fee then I might have bought it. Besides while at work or home im on wifi and I also have a laptop so in reality it would just be a hey look at me type of thing.

Back to the phone, it is pretty good. Love the feel and look of it. Everyone says moto-blur sucks but this phone is fast and I haven’t noticed any real glitch’s yet. I’m not one to root my phone I just load the few apps I like/use and use it for email, gps, talk, and surfing.

new favorite game…moto x mayhem

I had been looking for this for a while, guess its been out for a couple months now

Well I only recently thought about rooting because stock hasn’t caused me any real problems yet, I get good battery life with a battery manager app that works well, and my phone runs pretty smooth for the most part. I am wanting to get into different themes and icons and whatnot however. So thats sort of why I’m considering it.

I did the same thing, but I used the “stock” 800Mhz kernel he had in it. It’s pretty fucking good, but when I play music is fucks up a little especially when I’m trying to do other shit.

I’m on his 12th revision, and there are still some little issues -

GPS got stuck on once, needed to pull the battery.
Couldn’t call out once, phone app wouldn’t close - needed to pull the battery.
Having issues sending out some texts after extended use - pulled the battery.
Shittier camera quality

Overall, the good far outweigh the bad, I’m keeping it. Going to bump up to 1Ghz. What kernel did you go with?

PS go get Pew Pew

i was using the kernel Slayer 7 slot lv kernel version 1.6 1000 but with petes new version “GBPA13” he just released i am back to the stock speed, while 1ghz certainly was fast it just killed the battery.

i also have the same problems you mention but the new version is suppose to fix them

When you say “stock” speed - are you talking 550Mhz? I don’t think gingerbread would run on that lol.
