Official Android thread

Companies have gotta come out with less :hay: android device names. Apple does have us on that account. 3G, 3Gs, 4G vs. every overzealous adverb known to man.

so i just got the droid x and i am saddened at how much my original droid sucked compared to this phone ,except for blur that is just terrible.

I flashed the leaked gingerbread update last night and the phone has not stopped syncing since (going on 13 hours now), anyone else seeing this?

Alright, well since work is switching from AT&T to Sprint, I need new phone suggestions. I unfortunately have to give up my Atrix 4G :fu:. It appears the Nexus S is hitting Sprint May 8th…Any other phones that would be good to use?

Epic 4g.

Don’t by HTC crap.

You would be crazy to NOT get the Nexus S

Usually I try to buy Motorola, but HTC seems to be better with updates. I did test this phone out a bit when the rep was here last, and it was pretty nice. Samsung phones aren’t tooo bad but I’ve seen problems with the Captivate on AT&T.

Seems like a good phone with Gingerbread already installed.

both phones have 1GHz processors, where the Atrix has the dual core :tear:. I would kinda prefer the phone didn’t have the pull out keyboard since I don’t use the one on my Droid. Although the Samsung keyboard is better than the droid.

The nexus has great specs and is ALWAYS first to get new software updates.

Specs are important to some extent, but I’d rather have the latest and greatest features before anyone else.

As far as sprint…

Epic 4g is the only way to go. The software is much better than the HTC evo’s. Also, the screen is almost as big, the screen is definitely better resolution, the camera on the epic smokes the Evo’s and ontop of all of that you get a KEYBOARD!

Oh, and don’t a be a puss; root your phone. I’ve never once had to use a warranty on any phone. That eliminates all the bloatware and you can upload whatever rom you feel fits you best.

I could not believe how much better my Samsung was than the HTC.

Proof? You can have my Evo for free. The thing is not even worth it’s weight in scrap.

If you think the Epic 4G is REALLY that much better than the Samsung Nexus S, then you don’t really deserve to even be having this conversation.

Gingerbread > Froyo

Not only that, the Nexus S had Gingerbread before the Epic 4G even had Froyo. Epic was 2 generations back on software at one point. So, LOL.

I don’t care WHAT the specs on the device are.

Good thing I never mentioned the nexus you fuck face.

The nexus isn’t out yet, so I’m just stating first hand information on my experiences with sprint phones that are available for sale.

Also, what kind of FGGT buys a top of the line cell phone and doesn’t root it? You don’t even get the most use out of the phone using the factory BS. I have never had to wait for a factory update.

It comes out in less than 2 weeks, confirmed. <3

Well thats great. Still really isn’t all that revolutionary, I mean the specs it has listed aren’t exactly mind blowing.

I’d still take my epic just because I have a keyboard.

Me…not for work really. My Droid however IS rooted.

Don’t be a slave to the specs. Google has the Nexus S running like a fucking TOP. If you really love your keyboard that much, then that’s something to think about for sure.

a person that realizes that rooting has little to no benefit on android phone, the OTA software almost always runs 20x better than any rom. I am not talking about a rom that is based off of the OTA update I am talking about running a completely different version number. As far as bloatware, as long as it does not mess with how the phone works or is something you must use like some things in moto-blur then it is really a non issue. so what if there are a few extra apps in your app drawer.

I root my phone and rarely use anything that needs superuser permissions, the main thing is root explorer

I just use my root to get early access to OTA software and to remove bloatware. I don’t run any crazy roms.

My phone is ridiculous fast, I never have any issues with it. The only issue is with sprints 3g network, It’s a whore.

Sprint 3g is the worst…

Well after having my Atrix get the “4g” update yesterday, and reading that Motorola has plans for deploying gingerbread to it…I have to give it up :(. Looks like I’ll be using the Epic now for work, and it’s still running 2.1. Phone should be here today. I would have liked the Nexus S but our phone guy didn’t want to wait another week or so to get it. Huge kick in the nuts to an Android enthusiast.

What are you doing with the Atrix?

everyone needs to download drag racing in the market and play.
