Heh. Ya, Im not sure exactly what to do. I think if I go 4G Id get the Charge.
If i stick with 3G, I was leaning towards the X or X2. I havent really looked at the incredible 2.
I should run over to the store and hold a few of these.

Honestly you might as well get 4G regardless if it’s up and running or not. I’ve read that Verizon plans to have no more 3G by 2013. They just released another patch for the Thunderbolt to fix the random reboot issues. I haven’t used the Thunderbolt other than setting up exchange on it. The Droid X2 is basically the same as the Droid X with a dual core processor and more ram. The incredible 2 is meh.
I’m a pretty big fan of Samsung and HTC at the moment. I would shy away from Motorola.
If I were you, I would try and wait for the Galaxy S II like fry said. The HTC Thunderbolt isn’t bad but the battery life on HTC phones is pretty meh. Droid Charge seems to be a solid phone, and with a bug fix update rolling out soon it should be even more solid.
Galaxy S II is an AT&T phone no?
Galaxy is a whole series of phones for Samsung. They had about 4 different models across all carriers with the first version, under different names i.e. “Samsung Fascinate a Galaxy S Phone”. Same is happening with the Galaxy S II. But yeah it’s on AT&T now. Verizon version was rumored for July but that doesn’t look to be happening so maybe August?
But wasn’t there also a Galaxy S phone? I understand the Captivate, Fascinate, etc. are all part of the Galaxy S series. I saw some leaked photos of the Galaxy S II with AT&T stamped on it.
My bad, it’s not out on AT&T yet either so yeah the pics of it with an AT&T stamp are rumor/leak pics.
Looks like it will be called the Attain?
Just briefly looking at the different processors (Tegra2, Snapdragon, and OMAP4) it looks as though the Tegra 2 is still better. I’m guessing the the advertised “Ultra Low Power” on the Tegra 2 helps battery life. The thunderbolt doesn’t even have a dual core processor in it?!?!
Lame right? Single core 1ghz mobile processors are so 2010. The thing doesn’t even have gingerbread yet.
Im leaning towards just getting the Charge now. I dont think I can wait til august to make a call holding the phone on my ear. Im no phone super user and this being my first android phone I a. wont know what Im missing with something better, and b. it will be WAY WAY better than my 2.5 year old BB.

The thunderbolt certainly isn’t lacking in the performance department though. They are REALLY snappy.
Power hogs, though.
juicedz4, you’ll definitely like the Charge
Still irks me that Nokia’s blowing such an opportunity here. Take the N8 and its aluminum body, wipe off Symbian use some brake cleaner if you have to to get rid of all the symbian residue, load WP7, swap the screen for qHD, swap the Proc for a dual core 1ghz tegra chip, and keep the 12mp carl zeiss xenon flash camera. Win. It sounds so easy. At this rate someone will have a quad core android phone on the market before Nokia pushes out its first wp7 device. At least blackberry sucks now too.
It’s not so much what your missing but kind of “future-proofing” yourself. To me it makes no sense to get a phone without Dual core. I’m still chugging along on the Droid OG, and after using both the Samsung Epic and the Atrix for work, there is no question about it. No dual core = waste of time. 3G and 4G is kinda up in the air right now, since the Verizon 4G phones have been having issues and nobody else really has 4G yet…keyword is yet.

IMO if WP7 doesn’t start releasing updates like ever week with awesome shit and get more apps like…yesterday, they are done. I like the metro interface (I own a Zune), but the WP7 is just soooooo boring. Not to mention the integrated pieces that require an entire system update to fix or upgrade.
Idunno, my HTC Incredible is super snappy and loads apps fast. I really don’t think I would NEED a dual-core processor unless it proves to really do better on power consumption.
I’m not really sure what the processing requirements are for future android releases, though. Also, gaming is something that definitely might need better processing power too, so maybe that’s part of this whole “dual-core” obsession.
Fry, WP7 sucks.
So, what’s going to be coming to Verizon around the end of December? I’ll be due for another upgrade. Currently have the Thunderbolt, looking for something 4g, dual core, better battery…
I’ll be visiting Jeff around October for new phones. Still holding out for the BIONIC to see what it offers. Anything Q4 is still up in the air, but should be pretty awesome to say the least.
Christmas time is usually when you can count on some flagship devices to be released.
Hopefully we’ll be seeing the next iteration of Android (aka Ice Cream Sandwich) around then.
lol I know WP7 sucks. [sarcasm]But it’s supposed to get copy/paste soon right?![/sarcasm] I just have a thing for non-mainstream smartphones.
Bam. CyanogenMod7 for the Droid X. This is supposed to only work on phones with unlocked bootloaders I guess, but after 10 months of fucking around some ubernerd found a workaround. It’s still in beta, so among other things the camera/camcorder don’t work. I’ll wait until that’s fixed before I try it.
cyanogenmod guys are awesome
I’m to the point now where I don’t even care if a carrier/manufacturer plans to continue upgrading the software on my phone. I only care if the device is unlockable and that cyanogenmod is developing for it.
