Official Android thread

  1. I have done some reading a lot on this. Don’t mess with the radio if you don’t have to. Flashing the wrong files to your radio can brick your device.
  2. S-OFF is unlocking the NAND portion of the device which is where the ROMS are stored and being able to write to it. You need S-OFF to flash a custom ROM.

This is a nice video seems easy enough!

it’s SO much easier to do with ROM Manager. Also, ROM Manager will install clockwork recovery with one “click”

Just put a new ROM on my Incredible, was super easy!!

Ya I bounce around between roms becuase different ones do different things.I had one that was power hungry so backed it up and now running gingerbread on my Inspire. Clockwork allows you to backup, wipe clean, and install a new on really easy with with google sync, you can quickly get all your apps back.

How come my widgets aren’t working anymore?

edit: Like I download Beautiful Widgets for example and they don’t show up in the widget menu…

I have to reboot sometimes for widgets to show up after downloading.

Ill give it a shot thanks

Any thoughts on the HTC Thunderbolt? Good android phone or not really?

new android market is out, can now watch movies through the market its pretty cool

how do you get it? lol

Download the apk from droid-life.com

Whenever I enter the word “you” in a text on my phone (droid x, latest updates, not rooted) the keyboard disappears. The message doesn’t send, it just takes me back a step to where I can see the entire conversation, but no keyboard. Anyone heard of this before? Tried other words ending in “u” and the keyboard is fine… Also only happens as long as “you” is not the first word in the text. If I text “You know” then it is fine… Been happening for probably a week or two at least.

Downloaded a rom, used Clockwork Recovery, Rom said it installed correctly, phone was in a infinite reboot loop. Now it won’t turn on…FML

Had to do a factory reset and apply the Gingerbread rom to the phone…it’s working pretty well now.

Figured out my problem I believe… Just had to go to app management > multi-touch keyboard, and clear the data on it. Working so far.

Went from a gingerbread rom to Cyanogen Mod and it runs a lot better. Plus the features for it are awesome!

OTA gingerbread should be out for the Atrix very soon.

Droid X2 also!

LOL

It’s hilarious how many people are NOT on gingerbread yet. Gingerbread is sooooooo quarter 1.

Shutup Shutup  …The Epic STILL has not gotten it. My Droid OG does…unofficially of course
