Official BB Crew Thread

the new curve 8900 is edge for data. The next big deal for at&t is the onyx which will have all the features that the bold has but in a smaller form factor.

From comparing the 8900 vs. Tour on RIM’s site the only difference I can see is (well obv AT&T vs. VZW) the 8900 has WIFI and the Tour doesn’t.

uhh, bro. edge VS Rev A. come on meow.

Do I look like a cat to you, boy? Am I jumpin’ around all nimbly-bimbly from tree to tree? Am I drinking milk from a saucer? DO YOU SEE ME EATING MICE?

Meow what is so damn funny?

Besides that… thats obvious lol.

Well I have impeccable timing. I accidentally Jeff’s phone, not the whole thing, less than 24 hours before the Tour comes out.

Out of nowhere the trackball no clicky, the return key doesn’t work, the delete key is hit or miss, etc.

Jeff I think I owe you more beer.

I think your phone and your boat just dont get along. every time you go on the boat you accidentally the phone.

Naw it’s better now. It was driving me nuts because more buttons had stopped working and I was getting emails about drinking that I couldn’t see so I pulled the battery and left it out. A couple hours later I put it back in and the phone is fine again. Weird.

1 hour till Tour…

WTF. The tour’s dataport isn’t a standard USB port. I think it’s a USB standard, but it’s smaller than the typical digital camera sized port.

It’s not a standard mini usb?

No, it’s the standard MICRO USB, which is now the cellphone standard. I’d assume the Bold is using the same connector, I know my Storm did. The Curve is old technology and uses mini USB.

the bold uses the mini usb port.

the 82xx, 95xx, and now 96xx series use the micro USB. its the new standard.

I think I got a Tour with a bad headset port. When I plug in headphones (even the ones that came with it) the icon in the media player turns to a solid headphone, then a blurry one. If I wiggle or turn it the headphone icon changes to a speaker icon and the music stops playing.

It sounds OK, not in mono or anything, but wtf. My gym headphones hardly work at all. A little wiggle and the music stops.

I think that’s a known issue. Hit up crackberry to confirm. I thought I saw a mention of headphone issues.

How do you like it otherwise so far? I think this is going to be my next phone pending the reviews it gets the next few weeks.

There, that’s better. The tech at the store on the blvd played with it for like 3 seconds and was like “Yep, that’s not right. Here’s a new Tour.”

Otherwise I like it a lot. I’d say 75% of the hype was just hype, but it is a really nice phone. A bit quicker than the 8830 I had been using, the screen’s a bit sharper. (I know it’s higher resolution, but it really doesn’t look that much better. The 8830 was good to begin with.)

The speakerphone really does work a lot better, best I’ve ever used. Otherwise, it’s a blackberry. The main difference between OS4.5 and 4.7 that I can tell is the icons look different and this one doesn’t come with a theme that puts my appointments on my home screen. :wtf:

Yeah, it’s nice. I’d highly recommend it.

Glad to hear positive things about it. I’m going to play around with one tomorrow and go from there. Stupid question, but does the trackball light up or have a light around it that lights up? I see that it is black in pictures but I wasn’t sure.
