anyone get BBM 5 runnin yet I can seem to get the OTA to install and i cant figure out how to install a jad file what a nightmare

yea, there were issues in the beginning, but it seems pretty solid now
So I just got my 8830 today and so far it is pretty awesome.
It has only one wierd flaw, that it won’t let me download Google Maps. It says it isn’t supported.
The BB Maps app allows me to use the GPS and that is pretty cool, but it doesn’t do searches like google maps did on my 8703E.
Besides that, I am loving this thing.
Does anyone have the 8830 and knows a work around to download and install Google Maps?
And am I going to love or hate this thing in a couple of weeks? I already want the Tour… Because that is what the boss got! He doesn’t even use his BB! What a waste for him to have it and not me.
You probably have an old version of handheld software.
Yeah it worked fine on the 8830 I was using.
As for my tour, I’m back to the official OS. CPU scaling must suck on the betas and hybrids because they’re a bit faster, but battery life blows. :tdown:

Damn, I can’t do any sort of upgrading on my phone due to it being from work.
I guess I will have to live without my Google Maps. That sucks.

I work for a government agency now. There is an entire blackberry department that sets them up and hands them out. I can’t change half of the settings on the dang thing. LOL
you can still flash the OS, it wont change the IT policies.
That is correct. If you can’t do that, then just wipe it by entering in your password wrong 10 times.
Note: You will probably need to reactivate with the BES once you wipe it. Make sure you get the activation password from your IT dept.

how can you delete mutiple contacts at once on 8820? i can only seem to delete one at a time. got about 50 contacts to delete, and probabaly will kill the track ball if doing one by one.

Every time I see this thread I think its “Big Block” 
So I was using 5.0.0.191 all weekend. There isn’t shit compatibile with it yet (notably BBM 5.0 and Facebook, neither work) but this OS is really really nice. Finally threaded SMS texts, ala WinMo ca 2006. :picard: The look/feel is way nicer, there’s a file browser and all the other media apps are broken out independently now (not one media icon with 4 programs within it) the file browser has a “view all documents” function so you don’t have to browse to one specifically. There were a lot of other little tweaks that just overall made it way nicer to use. Battery life & performance seemed really good too.
I’m back to 4.7.1 for now because of the compatibility issues, but I can’t wait for a 5.0 official. :tup:
