I just got the tour two days ago, and for the life of me can not figure out how to get the text messages to show in conversations instead of individual millions of random texts… any idea???

No official release of blackberry OS offers “threaded” messaging, which is what you are asking about. If you upgrade to 5.0.0.191 or later then you will have threaded messaging.
fuck really? lol Im a totall noob when it comes to the blackberry era this is my first one and I have no clue how to use this thing. how do I upgrade to that??
It’s really pretty easy. Find/download/install 5.0.0.230 onto your PC, then connect your phone to the PC and launch BB desktop manager and it will say “oh hey, there’s an update available for your phone. Do you want?” click yes and it will back up everything on your phone, update it, then reload everything.
I’ll look for a 5.0.0.230 link for you. Keep in mind though, this is a beta release, not official, so some programs might not work.

I downloaded that thread posted and everything works pretty good but to certain contacts i can only receive texts from them and when I send them they dont get them and I get a message back as 9230 saying “message sent using invalid number of digits please resend using 10 digit number or valid short code msg 2114”
But then other contacts get my messages perfect and I receive theirs fine
any insight?
Make sure your contacts are using numbers with area codes.
GOOD: 716-555-1212
NOT GOOD: 555-1212

i tried that and still the same thing happened, i might just have to go back to 4.7 untill they work these stupid kinks out even tho i reallllyyy dont want to fuck.
First boot on 5.0.0.230 took forever for me as well. I actually thought I was bricked for about 10 minutes.

If it’s anything like the tour, the signal will be stronger. On a 4.x OS I don’t get reception inside a classroom at UB. With 5.0 I get 2 bars.
But either way I’m about to call 611 and beg them to let me trade for a Touch Pro 2. :run:

My signal is actually a bit weaker with 5.0. I’ve noticed a few places now where I’m not getting service, where I was before. There are some screen glitches (on the Storm version) that are a tad annoying but overall 5.0 is headed in the right direction. I didn’t think they were going to release it for the 8330. I figured it would be too old at this point.
not gonna lie, BBM 5 was annoying with its quirks. I’m happy to have the old one back.
