I used Win7 to update my Storm to 5.0.0.230. No issues at all. What version of Desktop Manager are you using?
So, is .230 really worth putting on the Tour? I’m getting more and more tempted…
It takes 20 minutes and you can go right back if you don’t like it, but yes it’s nicer and I really don’t have any new problems with it. BBM5 still doesn’t work, but who cares. You get threaded SMS and a much more warm & fuzzy look and feel.

If you’re super anal, you’ll want to wait for official releases. If you just want to be like GeeHee LIKE OMG 5.OH LIKE WAT you’ll overlook the small problems, that’s why they’re called beta releases. The chances of you really bricking your phone are slim, most likely it would be on your end. And I don’t mean what these guys call bricking where a battery-pull or reinstall of the OS fixes things, I mean a real brick where the phone becomes 100% useless.
Threaded SMS sounds hot, but i <3 BBM
It’s really hard to brick a Blackberry. Even if you were to yank power halfway through an OS reload it’s really easy to recover. Windows phones are much easier to turn into paperweights.
I wasn’t a big fan of the threaded SMS. It looked cool but it felt weird in hand so I reverted.
That’s why BB wins.
I still can’t wait till the Touch Pro 2 hits local stores so I can go in and bitch until they let me exchange my tour.

The loose battery door is a bit annoying, but no big deal. The headphone jack still cuts out sometimes, but it’s usually not a problem. (My first 3 were unusable.)
The horizontal scrolling is a bit sticky and getting worse, I don’t like that I have to run beta software to have a feature that I had on winmo a year and a half ago, I can’t sync wma audiobooks to it 
, I can’t play flash content, I can’t have a home screen that displays my appointments and tasks in chronological order (I even learned how to make my own theme trying), the audio player hardly fast forwards at all then jumps forward 20 minutes (again audiobook nerd.) The fucking cursor jumps around or inserts weird characters while I’m typing. That one drives me fucking nuts. No wifi sucks because I have a year left of night school and I don’t get a signal in the business buildings at UB. Wifi is also nice for free skype calls home when I’m on vacation overseas.
Really nothing big at all and if VZW tells me to go pound salt I’m not going to be heartbroken, I’d just be happier living with a winmo that I can customize the shit out of anything I don’t like over the next 2 years.
EDIT: Almost forgot, the lock button stopped working the first week I had #4. Which is sort of cool because I don’t want it to work because it fucking unlocks the phone in my pocket! What a fucking shitty design…
