There have been places that sell Heady outside of VT, which I believe is illegal. The usually charge outrageous prices for them. Ive been lucky enough to have people send me both Heady and Pliny free of charge.
In October there was a store in upstate NY that was selling heady- $42 / four pack. WARM on the shelf. CJ’s Kegs Cases & more in Potsdam, NY. There have also been sightings of Heady in DC for 18$ a can.
Ballyhoo had a barrel their opening weekend. It lasted 48 hours.
Its super illegal. There were a couple places in Buffalo selling them at bars and restaurants for $15/can. I heard through a service industry grapevine that one establishment was caught and fined by the SLA due to posting on social media that they were carrying it.
God damn there are good beers out here. I’m not even a beer drinker but there are happy hours a block from my house with $2 pints of ballast point, karl strauss, stone, alpine, alesmith, etc. I’m hooked on grapefruit sculpin at the moment.
really cool. $35 got you a small tasting glass that you kept, and walked around to various stands set up for different breweries. They had a so-so live band playing and some powersports toys set up on display. Would definitely go again next year.
Did the VIP thing, so got in at noon. Was there with my wife and a good friend of ours. Powered through quite a few samples before the 1pm general tasting started. Felt like we were there for quite a while and all feeling pretty toasty. Looked at my watch and it was only 40 minutes in. Tried to pace ourselves a bit better for the rest. Wife was smart and booked the two of us a room at the Hyatt. Still left around 3. It was nuts. Took a nap, then did dinner at The Lodge (excellent). Spent the rest of the night barhopping. Good day for sure.
Oh, and yeah, checked out the Weaver display also. Put my name on the list to test drive the Slingshot when it comes out here.
I noticed the same thing. i talked to the owner a few months ago and he said year over year sales are down and I generally got the feeling the location isn’t doing that great. Yesterday though it was pretty darn full. Looked like they just were unloading inventory as the clerk was putting it away when I walked in.
Makes sense when every gas station and corner store has some selection of craft beer.
