Official Beer Thread

I spent the majority of my life living in the inner-city and sometime the ‘hood’ comes out in weird ways…

I call this 'Ghetto Shandy"

I was in Bemus Point on the 4th. Went into the bar down there and on the chalkboard they had Leinenkaugels Grapefruit Shandy. I was intrigued-never knew they had a grapefruit shandy. Freaking AMAZING!!! I asked the bar tender if it was new as I have never seen it and she said that the rep dropped off a case or two as samples as it is just about to be released. Of course the 2 we ordered were the last two in the place. Really REALLY good.

I had a Sam Adams Grapefruit Shandy recently, had no clue they made one. Was pretty good, but I still prefer Grapefruit Sculpin

My cousin has come a long way in the past few years…

Bought my first growler last week.
Got some Green Flash - Soul Style IPA, pretty good. It’s your standard IPA, slightly bitter, no real fruit or citrus presence, no bad after taste.
Brother-in-law picked me up the Buffalo Brewers Series cans the day they came out. The Resurgence - Summer Saison was terrible. Maybe it’s just not my type of beer, but I really did not enjoy this at all. Next I had Community Beerworks - An IPA, OMG this was delicious. Citrusy, apparently has gooseberries, it went down smooth. I’d recommend it even if you aren’t an IPA fan. I can’t wait to get more. Finally the Big Ditch - Low Bridge, very good IPA, another quality beer coming from the guys at Big Ditch. Picked up some Flying Dog - Easy IPA after having it at @cougarspeed’s. It’s exactly as it sounds, a nice mellow IPA perfect for summer. Finally my summer beer (so far) of choice is the Victory - Summer Love. I had this first at Beerology, and enjoyed it. It may have been the only non-IPA I had there. I don’t really care for Shandy’s or the summer ales, but this is a really smooth, lighter beer with a nice taste. Little on the expensive side, but great for a nice porch beer.

Beers I’ve been loving lately - Almanac IPA, Elysian Space Dust, and Elysian Dayglow (Elysian is by far my favorite brewery these days)

I’ve been into the Allagash Dubbel Ale and Ballast Point Grapefruit Sculpin a lot lately. The Elysian Space Dust is also a good one!

I’ll also throw a nod for Space Dust!

Had a VT friend visit and bring the following:
Sip of Sunshine
Ghandi-Bot
Maine Peeper
Two Roads Session IPA
The Wind Grapefruit Gose
The Wind Coriander Gose

Unfortunately, Heady was all sold out, likely due to the holiday. It was a long weekend :eyebrow:

Had Hamburg Small Town last night…no bueno

That Ghandi bot sounds cool (googled it)… Probably headed up to vt in a few weeks, in search of Heady and mountain biking I guess

Doesn’t it have the most VILE after taste??? You take a swig and count to 5 and then BAM, after taste.

I don’t know what it was, I just couldn’t drink it. Got about halfway through and left the rest.

Small Town is the worst excuse of a saison I’ve ever had.

Honestly, I think people just go there to go there. None of the beer there is that great but for some reason people pack that place like Jesus might make an appearance.

It is a main stream beer but that Oculto tequila beer is pretty good for summer IMO. I have been crushing some which are like 6% and great on a summer day. The taste is like a Corona with a shot of tequila.

Had a Big Ditch Galaxy Red IPA the other day. Pretty darn tasty.

Weird, because that’s how I felt about the grapefruit shandy thing you posted about.

+1 on terrible aftertaste for Grapefruit Sculpin. Tasted like I was chewing on the rind.

Grapefruit Sculpin is OK, regular Ballast Point Sculpin is amazing… and dangerous.
