Jun 01, 2006 - Sabres defenseman Jay McKee did not travel with the team on the flight to Raleigh, North Carolina on Wednesday. Sabres spokesperson Mike Gilbert confirms that McKee is sick and that head coach Lindy Ruff will update the situation after this morning’s 11:30am practice. McKee leads the league in blocked shots during this year’s playoffs and the team is already without defensemen Teppo Numminen, Dmitri Kalinin and Henrik Tallinder. Stay with 7 News throughout the day for late breaking details.
A guy I work with said his wife works in the hospital and she and the Doctor she works for got an emergency call last night for an important patient, that patient was Jay McKee. His wife told him that McKee has a pretty bad infection in his leg. They gave him treatment late last night, but are still unsure if he will be able to play on it. And now I’m pissed.
