GO LEAFS GO!!!
lol its a shame that it will still be blow leafs blow
i was so bummed to hear about mckee but i knew it was gonna happen
i hope we get our shit together
There are some really retarded GM’s in this league. McKee is a great player, but 4 million a year?
Chara for 7.5 mil a year for 5 years? WTF? We made the guy look like an overgrown ape on skates during the playoffs.
Oh well, I’m not worried. I have faith in Darcy, he’s proved much smarter at this game than I am. Had it not been for a really bad injury streak we’d most likely have a cup at HSBC Arena.
as long as regier keeps getting lucky and making it look like he knows what he is doing shit will never come together. They had the perfect base to start off with, a bunch of young guys that kicked major ass to teams that on paper should have crushed them. They fell short because 2/3 of their defense died. To me that says dont cheange anything but WTF do i know about hockey.
wow hockey salaries seem to have gone through the roof… 4 mill for mckee… ehhh… maybe 2.5 or so… 7.5 mill for chara!!! the guy’s a beast, but seriously… like 4-5 isn’t enough.
sabres def. fucked up, we needed to keep mckee and get the rest of our lineup healthy, and we would have had a great shot. now instead of battling ottawa for the top of the division, we’re going to be battling them for the middle… ugh.
lol you guys are acting like mckee was the end all be all of our defense. We have other great players on the blueline…and with or without him here we still needed to beef up that area, the playoffs showed that. I’ll definitlty miss him and his show blocking but well get through it. Still have an amazing core of a team with one of the leagues best goaltenders. and its early in the free agency, darcy is being smart and waiting on the best deal possible.
We will contend for another cup next yaer
:roll2: doubt it.

bwhahha what a slap in the face to Carolina :rofflesberger:
that’s awesome.
i highly doubt the sabres will be a cup contender next year. mckee was the backbone of our D, playing PP, SH, and typically getting the most even strength mins. we have young talent, but not enough to lead us to the end…
one wonders if he hadn’t gotten that infection, and he played and we beat carolina and then edmonton… would we have re-signed him for what he wanted then???
mckee was not the backbone of the D. He was maybe 3rd best
But he blocked a ton of shots when they counted, he is going to be hard to replace. Now onto something less important. Who else has written the sabres about this tragedy?
I mean seriously this belongs on a helmet not a jersey.
news:
Yzerman announces retirement
The Anaheim Ducks have traded Joffrey Lupul, top prospect Ladislav Smid, Anaheim’s first-round choice in 2007, a conditional first-round pick and Anaheim’s second-round pick in 2008 to the Oilers in exchange for Pronger
on a side note, i would like to see buffalo actually sign somebody. preferably a big name player. but we prolly wont. and if we do, we’ll wait too long and end up with some washed up guy like Brian Leech
mckee is not the heart of our defensive core, but damn it sucks hes gone
HOWEVER, the worst commentator in the world john davidson is apparently building a mini powerhouse over in st louis. i don’t think they picked up a goalie yet, but jesus…weight, mckee, hinote, erik johnson…watch them be the hurricanes of the western conference…probably not since it is st louis tho
mckee being overpaid…well, unless the sabres offered him less money to stay here, i think it just continues to show players lack of loyalty in professional sports nowadays…BUT we did fuck him over last year so i could see how he could harbor a grudge. and no, we would NOT have given him more if we had won the cup…thats how regier does business, and i think everyone knew it was going to burn him with mckee…
chara is rediculous…guy has a breakout season on a team with an amazing support staff and gets nearly 8mill a season…he played AWFUL in the playoffs and showed his true lack of talent
peace out to stevie y…one of the classiest in the game and joins brett hull as two of the last “greats from back in the day” to head home
pronger could really anchor down anaheims blue line, but damn they are going to need a scorer to replace lupul…
nashville getting arnott…could help a bit…i don’t think he did all that much for dallas but could be a nice addition to kariya and sullivan…could make for a hell of a power play line…
ottawa is still screwed…opting to go with gerber AND losing the caveman…but buffalo will gladly accept the division banner this year to thank them for it
the only goalie they have right now is Jason Bacashihua. he was a rookie last year and played pretty damn well in the games i’ve seen him play in. definitely has some potential to get somewhere.
and looks like Buffalo is one of the few teams to do something this offseason so far. the only teams not to sign anyone yet are:
buffalo
detroit
montreal
new jersey
pittsburgh
san jose
darcy probably wants to keep the same core of players from last year. but seeing half of them were call ups from the ahl, they wont all be playing. biron being traded could be the only move we make knowing darcy.
we should trade biron and possibly someone else for mckee…since they could use a goalie, lol
st louis had that one goalie that looked solid…until he blew out his knee or something…lemme try and find him…
edit curtis sanford…did decent until he hurt his MCL…davidson always talked high of biron too…watch them make some sort of deal for just draft picks
we have to sign lydman and tallinder to long term deals NOW instead of qualifying them with shitty 1 year deals.
imo, they were our #1 pairing the second half of the season into the playoffs.
get numminen back for another season
sign afinogenov, connolly, pomminville, briere, miller, and a few others to long term deals
qualify the guys that still have more to prove next year.
but for the love of god, darcy needs to bust out some contracts longer than 2 years. we cant have a team that has 75% turnover every 2 years. that is ridiculous
say goodbye to mike grier. signed by san jose reportedly. i read it in an nhl board, and their credit was this: http://rds.ca/hockey/chroniques/207631.html. not english, but oh well
EDIT: heres an english site…http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=2508493
Buffalo…the pit stop between the minors and real money
