Mike Grier…Big Deal…Good Player but he is replaceable (Adam Mair)…as for McKee it hurts but its not like the same impact of say Jagr leaving the Rangers or Forsberg leaving Philly…Buffalo needs to sign guys like Briere, Miller, Roy, Pominville, Tallinder, and Lydman to long term deals before their market value goes through the roof…I dont think the Defense is in that bad of shape with:

Cambell + ??? (Maybe Paetsch and Hopefully not Fitzpatrick)

Yeah its sad to see Grier go but it sorta clears up the mess at forward…This gives a chance for a young guy like Novotny. Drew Stafford or even Clarke McArthur to run for a spot next season…Novotny will no longer have waiver protection meaning if sent down to Rochester, he could be snagged by any team.

BUFFALO, New York (Ticker) - Like fellow defenceman Chris Pronger, Jaroslav Spacek wanted out of Edmonton.
After helping Pronger lead the Edmonton Oilers to within one victory of the Stanley Cup, Spacek on Wednesday agreed to terms with the Buffalo Sabres on a multi-year contract.
Pronger was traded to Anaheim on Monday after saying he wanted to leave Edmonton.
The 5-11, 204-pound Spacek, 32, split last season between Chicago and Edmonton, recording a combined 12 goals and 31 assists in 76 games. He finished second among NHL defenseman with 14 points in 24 playoff games during the Oilers’ postseason run.
The blue liner has 51 goals and 154 points in 496 career games with the Florida Panthers, Columbus Blue Jackets, Chicago and Edmonton. He also won a gold medal with the Czech Republic in the 1998 Olympics and won a bronze in the 2006 Games.
