I eat all day long, never stop and eat pretty much whatever I want. I calorie counted a 1200 calorie diet 1.5 years ago and lost 20 lbs. Now I cant gain weight if I tried. In fact I got worried the other day because I lost a few more and was getting “too” light. But since I calorie counted I eat relatively healthily… Except for this Snickers I am about to go vend.
edit: However I did burn 2300 Calories this morning and I have to gear up for some VBall tonight.
I am in the training funk of all training funks. Just can’t get it going.
Last 3 workouts set out to run 20…knee hurt and ran 14(this got in my head)
Went swimming planned on 2,000meters literally got like super mad for god knows what reason and left after maybe 500m no rhythm and just felt spent
Yesterday set out to run 20 and after 1.5mi gin just felt super frustrated and like I was working way too hard. Literally walked home.
Loud pop is bad. Usually means something tore/broke. In my case it was cartilege breaking off the bone, but it’s more common to be ligaments. Let me guess: Your knee is a big squishy balloon now?
There is some hope. It could just be a sprain. I had the pop-fuck-squishy once and it amounted to nothing. I also had it three times when I had to have surgery to pull hunks of cartilege out of the joint that were just floating around. (Shit the size of a quarter feels really weird when it’s just floating around under your skin.)
Rambling aside, doctor up if you’ve got health insurance. Get that shit examined and MRI’d so you don’t wind up walking with a cane when you’re 50.
I highly recommend University Orthopedics on Sheriden/Harlem. Worked my ass off in PT and was cleared for athletics 6 months. Almost 3 years later and I feel like a rockstar.
Ha healthcare… but seriously, I have an appointment on Monday. Feeling much better since this morning. Something is still not right obviously… I must run this marathon in October lol
Great run man! That is about as fast as I run a 5k. I told you that you would catch me quick. After the marathon I think I am going to try to focus on intervals and speed training this winter. I always default to distance stuff since it is easier for me but in reality I bet speed work would drastically help my marathon time too.
I think my best 5k this year had an average pace of like 7:40ish but I really think I can get it back to the ~7min area by doing some of my old speed workouts.
Damn it! I wish I could of run this! lol. I would of gotten first for 25 year olds…
Quick medical update, just got back from the Doctor. He said that since I had such a quick recovery and seem to have little pain, combined with the fact that he tugged on my knee in 30 different directions and there is no swelling (run on sentence?). He said that its probably just a sprained ACL of some sort and a MRI would be useless. He said continue training as it feels comfortable! Dodged a bullet!!!

Nice job man! dont leave the gate so fast next time
^Yeah I killed myself that first lap…I figured I could keep up the pace…I was incorrect. Walked briefly a few times, still managed to shave off 2+ minutes from my previous 5K which was Friends of the Night.
Every mile when you run a race is supposed to get faster not slower. It’s really hard to do this, but if you can that’s when you know you have good control.
Edit: If you look at my splits you will notice I don’t do this… So I am just that asshole preaching shit he doesn’t practice
When I used to be fast…I would always run a negative split. Now that am not fast lol I come out the gate like it is somehow the day I will be in that shape again and bonk 2/3 of the way haha.
Rochester marathon this weekend!!! Wish me luck. Not feeling too confident to be honest after a few bad training weeks and no run longer than 14mi heading into it but we shall see. I am looking to go ~4:30 still. I was thinking ~4 after my 1:51 half a few weeks ago but that was my last decent run.
On a somewhat positive note I decided to run a mile yesterday and did it in 6:45 pretty easily, going into the wind and slightly uphill. I am going to try to get serious about speedwork and do 1 day a week of intervals.
