Disclaimer: Intellectually I am closer to a rock than a doctor, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
You don’t need anything but a pair of sneakers to run (and even that I could argue) but there’s nothing wrong with instrumentation when you’re a data dork engineer.

Ran my first marathon in Toronto yesterday. 3:39:22 Our Bibs had our names on it so random people were yelling my name the whole time! Also I will say that running a race with only km is frustrating. Marathons seem to be PURE willpower after mile 15. Tough stuff, I understand why people love running them all the time. Not sure I will ever again. Too soon to tell.
Girls are built better for longer races, just saying. They have higher pain tolerances or something. I couldn’t imagine doubling a Marathon let alone doing 100 miles.
I ran the Disney 1/2 with the mrs a few years back. Lots of people there to do the goofy. It is a fun event but the damn 1/2 was soooooo crowded. Not sure how the full was.
Were you in traffic the entire time? I hate that. When I did Disney my GF had no registered race time so we started in a super slow wave. WORST DECISION EVER

Think turkey trot for half the race. We didn’t get open space till the marathon split, even then it was congested. I barely got in my corral before the race. Too many people trying to cram in the gates. It was a mess.
There was a 101 year old man who ran the 5k at this event too. He finished in 43:32 or something. Crazy!!
What kind of diets are you on pre-race? I’ll be running a full marathon on December 9th so I’m curious for daily diet stuff that has helped, but also any supplements that you take during the race for energy/hydration. Of course I would try something in a normal run before the race.
i suggest lots of carbs the night before, in the form of pasta, not beer.
i ate like 4 bananas and took 3-4 potassium supplements before my last official one. Didn’t cramp once. Dont think I pooped for a couple days, but thats another story.
I set out to run 20 miles tonight. It was supposed to be my longest training run and then short runs until my marathon on December 9th. Around 11.5 miles my foot went ape shit and I can’t even walk properly. FML I really hope this goes away. I’ve never had this happen before.
