Had too much of it this weekend, plus Pizza, plus Paula’s donuts, plus Jim’s…ughh
I saw you check in at paulas. Fatty.
It’s a block away…not my fault.
It’s ok all I did sunday was drink beer and eat chili.
I <3 Beer.
Any half marathons going on relatively nearby in November?
*I too love beer, fwiw.
just picked up some new kicks!!! gotta break them in
Went with yet another pair of Brooks Adrenaline
Well, it’s official. I bought my plane tickets to Hawaii in December and I’ll be running the Honolulu marathon on December 9th.

A lot of those have half marathons along with the full. Not too many in northern states in November, though. Just man the fuck up and come to Hawaii.
Jammed about 12 miles on the bike today. Running tomorrow.
Sweet man! I am still in pretty good shape so if you want a partner for any of your training runs let me know. I feel like I could come in right at 4hrs if I had a good race right now but the ROC one was tough. Knee was in bad shape and super wind took me out mentally.
I am declaring right now that the Buffalo Marathon this year I will do in under 4hrs. *
*Unless i don’t haha
been knockin out 4.5 milers daily. yesterady skated 5.5 miles with the pup and then ran. best run ive had in awhile too.
 I’d like to get a rollerblade in. I did our routine run on monday. Probably won’t run again this week with the wedding being on saturday.
she loves it, she is in all out sprint mode for just about all of it. i get some crazy looks from people…
I have a question about my heart rate…
I’ve been running short distances (4 miles) trying to get my endurance up for hiking Utah in November. (being the last guy at the exit point sucks).
Anyway, I can run those 4 or 5 miles at a slow pace, usually about 9 minute miles. Unless I really crank up the incline I don’t ever really feel tired… just comfortable… however my heart rate, even if I run a 10 minute mile is SLAMMING. On a run my typical heart rate never dips below 150 and is usually in the 160-175 range for the whole thing.
I have a super low cholesterol vegan diet. My blood pressure is pretty low, but I can’t tell you what it is for sure. My resting heart rate is about 55.
I feel great after and drink tons of water…
Am I killing myself or doing more harm than good?
Does it take a long time for your heart rate to return to normal after exercising?
I have no idea how to quantify that.
That doesn’t sound that bad though. When you mentioned vegan and high heart rate my first thought was B12 deficiency, but with a nice low resting heart rate I think you’re probably fine. Plus some of the best distance runners in the world are vegan (i.e. Scott Jurek).
No. It’s down to 100 about two minutes into my cool down, which involves walking at 3mph at a moderate incline.
Is this the first you’ve noticed it?
Only because I’ve never really checked my pulse when running. I have no benchmark but had read something about a target heart rate and according to online heart rate calculators I am way out of my “training zone”. But I feel like slowing it down would make my endeavor “not worth it”
170’s is cranking pretty hard. I only get that high if I’m doing some high intensity interval type stuff (read: never) but since you’ve got a low resting heart rate and it returns to normal pretty quickly then Dr Google suggests that you’re healthy.
Everything cool otherwise? No dizzyness or light headedness or anything like that? If no, then I’d probably just keep on keeping on. See if it comes down as you get in better shape.
No dizziness or fatigue or anything. I usually push pretty hard at the end and that gets me pretty winded but 30 seconds into my cool down I feel fine.
Also, has anyone every used a chest strap to monitor HR? Is it even worth it?
