Yeah, the Polaris hulls are decent. They had that fucking abortion turbo motor that was a total pile of shit. Came in the MSX 150 or something? I don’t know what your price range is, but if you want a super fun, nimble ski, the Aquatrax gets my vote. I use to toss mine around a lot, it was fun. There’s a 04 R12X on Craig’s for $3000.00 with 59hrs.

I always heard the 97 sea doo xp was a good choice for a budget ski. It’s the newer design and looking hull with the reliability of the 787 motor.

I’ve personally have had the best experience with older seadoo’s and yamahas. Kawasakis aren’t bad but IMO compared to most seadoo’s especially, they seem sort of large and underpowered which is fine for 2 up or general cruising. For ripping around, my fav 90s skis are Yamaha waveblasters, waveraider 1100s (they feel like they want to kill you) seadoo xp’s and Spxs’. Seadoo 657, 717 and 787 rotax engines are pretty long lived and easy to work on. I would not reccomend them to anyone as good skis to ride 2 up though.

Thanks man! Might think about one of those for my wife…I am hoping to have mine possibly running this w/e…hoping…

Ya I was mainly talking about the Polaris MSX. Those things are a pile of crap. I cant imagine its easy buying parts for an older Polaris. I love my Aquatrax sooo much its not even funny. But Its very hard to find a decent one. I had to drive to Ohio to finally found one that was taken care of. They have there pros and cons like any other ski

Whats wrong that your isin’t running? Need some help?

As cool as a turbo ski would be, probably not what I want to get into for a first ski. Probably leaning towards a 97+ Sea Doo Xp, the motors are very similar to the bombardier sled motors that I’m very experienced with and they have a decent looking hull compared to the other 97-98 skis.

Yea my dad picked up a 96 SeaDoo GTX a couple years ago and its been a good runner just little things here and there and it gets him around comfortably.

Anyone going out tomorrow?

Little less fuel:

Jesus Christ.

Meanwhile, after doing a bunch of work around the house Saturday, decided it was time to cool off. We went East out of Wilson this time. Trekked out to Point Breeze.

30 Mile Point Lighthouse near Barker

Exploring Point Breeze

Leaving Point Breeze.

Then headed straight North for about 6-7 miles, until things got really quiet and flat. This was the only other boat we could see. Nice situation to be in, really.

Made a little food, and enjoyed the evening for a while

Got back into Wilson pretty late, but the bar next to our slip was rockin’.

Glad we made the decision of marina over a regular vacation a few weeks ago. I think it was the right one.

This view at Smith Mountain Lake wasn’t too bad last week

Thinking about picking up a mid-90’s sea-doo if I can get a cheap deal. Looking to see how that 89 works out for you @91MR2

Nice pics guys. I have a few but I’m still going through them. It was a great weekend to be out on the water

Friday I went riding and tried to get a GPS shot of my speed, but my GPS wouldn’t stay on! I think the batteries are low. I did manage to get a whole lot of jumps in. Probably had my best ever off of a boat wake as they left the small boat harbor. I need a GoPro now that I’m getting better, lol. Maybe @King can take some shots for me.

Saturday to Sunday we sailed to Crystal beach, spent the night on the water in Abino Bay then woke up and went to the Beach. Great day other than having the pooper fill up and pop a gasket… spent 2 hours cleaning up the mess but it didn’t ruin the day. @SOLITUDE good thing you didn’t head across the lake… you could probably smell us on the US side, lol.

And just a note for anyone doing a Canada trip, the video phone at Erie Basin Marina for customs is broken so don’t bother making the stop. Just call the customs number. It was a wasted stop on the way home for us but I did get to see @Scott heading back into the marina. Actually I heard it first, lol.

I don’t have a garmin gps, I did look in the App Store and snagged this app, had really great reviews so I tried it out today on the 310.

I use SpeedTracker for iPhone to calibrate my speedometer

This is what I use. I ran it compared to a new Garmin in my truck and its +/- 0.3-0.5 mph, so its about as accurate as you can get for free.

I’m a bit worried about my phone getting lost in the water or damaged. I have a case for it, I just need to get a float too. Whatever I use WILL get soaked. And it’s difficult to ride one handed so it’s not like I could take it out and use it while moving.

Don’t be a pussy Josh, come on Mr.GQ!
