how much of a pain in the ass is it to cross into canada on a ski? I know you have to call ahead but I have never done it before. Anyone elese crossing over there?

It used to be considering the rule that if you don’t step foot on Canadian soil or drop anchor you don’t call in. We cross the water border constantly and have never been hassled.

However, there was a case back in 2011 where some Canadian water pig got all sandy vag and caused a bunch of problems for a guy who was fishing on the St. Lawrence just across the border into Canada and claimed the strict read of the law is any time you cross into Canadian waters you better be heading for a reporting station. I have NEVER seen that be an issue in WNY waters or ever heard of anyone simply out cruising being hassled.

This was Canada’s official response once it got escalated to near international incident.

So I read all that good info but in the end…what would you do?

I’ve been crossing the border as I have ever since I started boating in WNY. Don’t anchor, don’t step foot on land, don’t report.

Curious what others are doing, and if they even realize that there are spots on the west river that 75’ off shore of Grand Island is Canadian waters. It’s basically impossible to drive around Grand Island without entering Canadian waters because in some places the only US water is so shallow and close to shore you couldn’t run a boat through there.

This is what I’ve done. If I’m spending a lot of time on land I call the number. But for years I’ve just beached and walked around without doing anything.

Made a run to grass island and back today. Things seem to be working properly now with my ski, although it still gives a bit of hesitation top end after it’s been wide open for a long time. No random shut offs

You might be running out of gas in the bowl after a long wot run. try adjusting the floats.

We’ll be out tonight around 6pm wakeboarding and tubing around Navy Island.

Man, I need to stop looking at this thread…

This will change things around for you. 342Hp. People call this the Ducati of the jetski world.

HSR Benelli Series-R Race EditionWhile Kawasaki has been advertising the 300 LX Ultra Jet Ski and Ultra 300 X as the fastest jet skis on the planet, that distinction actually goes to the HSR Benelli Series-R Race Edition. This jet ski combines performance, handling and style. It is often referred to as the Ducati of the jet ski world. It has a 2,260 cc, V6 four-stroke engine capable of producing up to 342 horsepower. This was made by combining two 1130 cc in-line three-cylinder engines that were lifted from HSR Benelli’s other model, the Tornado 1130 Superbike. It is equipped with a dashboard with integrated RFID function. It also has adjustable sponsons and a hydraulic trim. Even the color evokes the color of Ducati as it has red, silver, carbon and black trims. It can carry up to three people with a total unladen weight of 328 kilograms. This is one of the most exclusive personal watercraft in the planet today.

I wonder how long I could have this setup on the GI Bridge before one of the 10+ WNY police agencies showed up to ruin the good times?

ya and i thought racing around was gunna get me in trouble lol

I don’t think you would even finish setting it up.

Didn’t feel like making a new thread. While working DT last night at Tempelton there were tons of big boats being trailered in. The poker run has come to buffalo and one of the guys is trying to break his 180+ mph record.

Yeah Templeton is CRAZY right now with those boats.

@JayS were you around the southern tip of Grand Island tonight? I think I may have seen you towing 2 girls on a tube.

Yep, that was us. I assume you were in that group of pwc’s? I looked but figured yours would stand out since it’s a weird hybrid sit/stand.

I was on land, lol. At my marina loading up my ski for tomorrow. I could hear kids yelling and looked up to see your boat pass by.

Pictures from this weekend. Some of these guys can do back flips & barrel rolls on flat water, lol. It was a great time, but I lost a nice pair of sunglasses to a boat wake that I muffed :frowning:
