opinions on fuel managment for my eclipse...

So maybe i’m going to keep it since people thing i’m nuts…and that is fine with me. So, I was thinking of all the thing I have to purchase to get it complete. One important one is fuel managment.

I’m looking for basically the cheapest bang for my buck. I REALLY don’t want to spend 1100 on an AEM EMS which was my first choice. Now being down in FL at school has sucked all my money away.

I remember a while back stuff about the greddy e-manage, but haven’t had the chance to play with it myself. So just lookin for ideas. Also not limited to fabrication and wiring…i’ll create an entire new engine/car harness if i have to. fyi…i’m going to hope for over 400hp, so the super crisp fine tuning of the SAFC is probably out

trade it in and buy a mustang my.02

well theres your answer gearhead, and he drives a VW and dreams about mustangs so hes knows what hes talking about.

i dont want either, hows berger??? did you sleep with him for a free car yet??

greddy e-manage sucks.so ur basically saying that an safc cant make 400whp?do some research cause its kind of obvious that u havent.get the safc and a MAS translator and be fine off.people are making 350-450whp with that setup.doing a complete stand alone on a dsm to just make 400whp is pretty dumb and a waste of money

sorry…i’m lazy :stuck_out_tongue:

oh really? last i remember people were doggin on the safc b/c it wasn’t “percise”, but if you think it’ll work i’ll definitly start headin that route. I would do more research, but the dsm world is so insane, it would take me years to read everything on everything…

MAS translator meaning…going to a GM maf? by the time i get that and an safc i’m over half way to a standalone…and that way i might be able to tweek for more hp, no?

eh, maybe not…i could be under 400 for the translator and safc probably…

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

you’re better off going with dsmlink than any standalone, dsmlink and MAFT = better than standalone.

but what do i know

im suprise you posted you shiester you  Looked at the dsmlink…dunno much about it…looks like a UTEC type thing to me which I HATE… or an e-manage. the little i did see was really good…now i just need convinced to pay the extra $300 over something like an SAFC…

it’s worth it, consider it a datalogger and an afc in 1 with the ability to view knock on a 2nd gen.

mmmm…knock counts…that might just sell it there. :bigthumb:

it’;s the only way to read knock on a 2nd gen…BUT you need a 95 eeprom ecu and those are kinda hard to come by… i’m glad mine came with the car

how can u tell? just tear the cover off it?

i haven’t seen a 95 ecu that wasn’t eeprom but i suppose they exist.

the eprom ecu’s have an extra chip in the board, what year was ur dsm?if its was a early enough 95 it will still have the metal ecu cover while the non-eproms will come in a black, plastic cover.the eprom chip will have a big “E” on it i do believe.

i know they have e’s on them but i didn’t know about the cover difs.

1g ecu’s came with a metal cover for the ecu.then in 96 i do believe they started to use a black, plastic cover.chances are if u have a metal outer shell u have an eprom ecu.

gearhead if u still cant figure out if u have one rip it apart and take a pic and post it,i’ll be able to tell u then
