Orr89rocz's 1989 Camaro Iroc-z 5.7L

the only thing red will be the block and manifold. the plenum if you remember my setup will be black. valve covers are black, and the accesssories are black. Engine bay is black.

Oil pan is gold and heads are aluminum i’m not paintin either of those.

So its just a touch of red color. The only red suspension parts i have up front are stock painted sway bar and spohn steering bar brace.

I dunno, looks pretty ghetto to me… Just kidding you know I love your truck and would steal it the first chance I got :stick:

went with red  and did a quick mock up to give an idea of what it will look like.

Keep in mind the accessory brackets are black, so are the valve covers, and not sure what i’m gonna do the waterpump/timing chain cover in. Gold oil pan i dont think i will paint that.

who did that port job? you know if you aren’t running a wet manifold you don’t really need turbulence to atomize fuel…polish that sucker man

btw man, i think you gave me cataracts, everything i look at is red now

haha yes i ported it myself. not sure i’m gonna clean it up more or not, i dont think i will but we will see. it was a quick job to open up some spots and it worked well for my tastes.

And yes, it looks like alot of red at the moment, but the accessory brackets, water pump, timing chain cover and valve covers as well as the oil pan will cancel out alot of that red. Its gonna look GREAT i think

its not tooo bad, idk bout the manifold being red tho

looks good MPH…but would have looked better black :tounge: :tounge:

its just like my old setup. When its done you wont see a lot of the red. wiring and everything else takes away from the red

that intake’s aluminum right? so easy to port just do it!

also i still hate red no matter how much you try and justify it

haha aww red is nice, and yes its easy to port but i realy dont think i will need any more work done to the manifold. It aint a perfect job but its not a hack job either

also i still hate red no matter how much you try and justify it

also i still hate red no matter how much you try and justify it

well sorry guys thats what the car is…black and red, so it will remain that way

ricer… should have kept it black

black is like too emo/gothic for me  need some shine in there

Anyway, got my headgaskets, cam degree kit, intake gaskets, ARP head and intake bolts, and oil pump pickup today. gonna start buttoning it all up this weekend i think.

but what if it affects your MPH :kekegay:

it wont, i already looked into it

I’m not sure of the black valvecovers/intake plenum, though. But in the assembled pic it looks good.

Mine was that bright when I first did it. It doesn’t seem as bright now. This is a pic when I first built it in 1999-2000

What are you thinking it should look like?

I certainly dont want it all red  My longblock sorta looks like yours but i have a gold oil pan that wont be painted. I painted the timing chain cover red, but it will mostly be covered by the balancer/pulley and water pump so you wont see it

I really like splitting up the red with black since i love those two colors together. Black Widow type theme since the car is black/red and i’m gonna keep it that way. I seriously was thinking about the aluminum heads and what i could do with them, but i REALLLy dont wanna paint them

hahaha on the side note my motor is the TINY version of your motor  similar colors and similar intake and HOPEFULLY similar hp

I wouldn’t paint the heads.

That’d be awesome if it made the same HP. Are you gonna get the motor dynoed, or just get the car on a chassis dyno?

Good Luck.
