the 503 definitely sounds streetable. that’s what I would pick
the other one might make more power but obviously you’ll need to be in higher rpms to make it.

edit for updates below
Ok new update
not camming the original motor. i’m yanking it and rebuilding it. I plan to run a full forged 383 at 11 to 1 compression.
I have new AFR 195cc elminator heads, should flow 280cfm+ at .550-.600 lift
this is gonna take me awhile to do but when its done it will rip ass.
Plan to run a custom grind cam of some sort. thinking LE3 from BRE custom cams/Lloyd Eliot. we will see tho
hoping for near 400whp n/a
shouldn’t be too hard with an le3
DO IT!!!
AFR:yum:
o my my…should be a fun street car
it should be nasssty when done. i hope to spray it too… only a 150shot but depends on how my funds are, i may direct port 200 to it. i dont have a cage or roll bar, or 12 bolt rear, so it will all have to wait. i want 11’s n/a and 10’s on motor or CLOSE to it.
ha ok i retract my previous statement to god dammit i wanna ride in it when your done lol
Yeah i didnt want to do it this way, i just wanted a budget build with alittle more power than what i have now. But i’ve been convinced to build it right now, get the power i wanted this year instead of next year. So i’m done messing around, i want this car pretty nasty. it will be awhile, but when its done i’ll give u a ride. it should be fun nonetheless.
going to be badass man!
Those heads are pure sex.
Gonna be one BADASS thirdgen.
LOVEIT!
should be sweet when done. good luck with build
I think I’m kinda jealous. Yep. Sounds like it will be very mean. Cant wait to see it done.
damn it why do you have to make me so jealous
congrats it will be sweet
not a v8 guy but looks like its gonna be pretty nasty esp for a street car
looking into a custom grind cam for the application. Should be interesting to see what happens with that.
I hope it is nasty lol, it should be with all this research i’ve been putting into this project. Now i just need the money to finish it all…
Well i got the cam finally and its not as ‘nasty’ as i was hoping for but should fit the bill nicely.
Cam was designed by Bret Bauer…from Bauer racing engines
it actually came out similar to the CC306…surprisingly enough but with a ton more lift and slightly different lobes
Advertised duration is 286/306
230/245 at .050" with .603/.613" of lift with 1.6 rockers.
109 LSA
Not very aggressive profiled lobes but with very high lift to complement the AFR heads
I was hoping for more intake duration and less exhaust split since i had AFR heads which have good exhaust/intake flow ratio. Also steeper profiled lobes, but he says this is what will be best for my stealth ram and AFR heads on the 383. I hope he’s right It will also love nitrous which i do plan to run so thats good.
it has a good deal of overlap so it will idle rough but i dont mind. Its what i wanted
Cant wait to get the motor build itself started up. I just need headers and few other small things, and the shortblock to get this thing started up.
nice.
can’t believe he gave you specs… he usually doesn’t give specs until a cam is actually sold, and then he asks the customer not to advertise.
are you still getting the afr’s ported by lloyd?
no i’m using the AFR’s as is. i got the heads here. He didnt give me the specs, lol the cam came today and i got the cam card. he wouldnt tell me anything before hand tho, only after it was shipped and i got the card.
he also never said anything about postin specs. lol i posted it everywhere
i did talk to him abit more and he says this will be the cam for my setup. I personally feel its alittle small, but we will see. It will LOVE nitrous he says so thats a plus. I hope to run a 150-200 shot
