if i remember correctly, all the big cam makers for the lt1 (brett (who makes the cams for lloyd), joe overton, and lpe) all keep their duration around .600" or lower.
it seems like it will like the spray. I just don’t know about the 109 lsa?

yeah they love to keep lift in the .600 range, its the duraton on my cam that kinda surprised me…definately not what i expected. I’ve seen one of the LE3.2 cams and LE2 cams and i was hoping for something similar. He said it would have worked ok, but wasnt optimal for the HSR intake design with its longer runners
he said it will eat nitrous up lol so i cant wait to try that. the 109 is alittle tight, but it has good exhaust duration split so the nitrous should be ok. i just wish it had more intake duration… i just dont feel like 230 is enough to move a 383 in the mid 6000 rpm range. The heads should help it breath up there but i think it would want 236 degrees or so.
After playing with cam specs and stuff, i’m very confident that this cam will deliver the goods!!
Well to update, ordered a Canton 6qt road race oil pan and high volume oil pump… got a decent deal in the classifieds
Ordered the shortblock from Golen. Sending out deposit this week. Shortblock is scheduled to be built the week of the 17th and shipped out by the 21st or so. Should have it by end of march
HOPEFULLY will have headers/injectors/waterpump/new restalled converter and few minor things like gaskets/pushrods/some bolts/etc by end f march/early April. Then will have it put together and running by mid to late April. hopefully kicking some ass in MAY! But thats after i get subframe connectors welded up in there and my exhaust system done, which i’m still not sure how i’m gonna run it all. Want to notch teh frame for clearance so i’ll need to beef up the chassis a good bit. Also want a 8pt roll bar as well
After the motor there is just SOO much extra shit that needs done.
WOW! When did you decide to go with a 383?
le3, golen :idhitit:
ha this’ll be sick…i wanna ride in it when its done
when i took my stock cam out and saw a worn cam bearing… so i said fock this, i’m building a good motor now while i can instead of rocking a cammed 160K mile car.
Its gonna be nasty i hope. Cam should make loads of power. I ported my HSR intake out so it will flow enough to make the heads the limiter on airflow. My stock airintake system probly will crap out the motor so i’m gonna look into improving that this summer as well.
I want a roll bar in the car since i plan on spraying this past 11.49 if its not already past that on motor. Also because i plan to cut my subframes to allow more exhaust clearance but i’ll see how much room i have when the motor/headers are in. WILL do subframe connectors too.
With the cage i hope to do some kind of racing seat/4-5 point harness. So my interior will get all redone. Gonna black it all out with some red accents on the seats only and maybe red roll cage padding, i’m not sure yet tho. I definately want black interior and get rid of all that porno red. Its too much red. I may forgo the cage until i have enough money to buy all the new interior pieces/seats so i can do it all at the same time.
spray system i HOPE to add direct port with standalone fuel cell for the nitrous. 200-250 shot. I want good distribution. i may just stick to a single fogger nozzle for a 150-200 shot and still keep stand alone fuel system for it to ensure i dont have any fuel issues. Thats all later this year i guess…
soo much to be done
Sounds like it’s gonna be sick. Good luck with everything. Hit me up if you need a hand.
isnt it fun building cars? it will def pay off in the end
I love every bit of it! Just wish i had more money so i can get everything i need here at once so i can get started
I’m really looking forward to actually tuning the thing. haha not. gonna be a slight pain in the ass getting part throttle tune down. Gotta get as much gas mileage i can when it goes up to 4 dollars a gallon for the good stuff :wackit:
WOT tuning i’m sure i can wack that out in a hour on the dyno. Idle shouldnt be too bad either, but thsi cam got some overlap so i gotta really tweak those o2 sensor values to keep it happy in closed loop. Open loop warm up will be fun too. Hardest thing is getting a base tune so i can break in the motor. once i can get it running i can start tweaking shit, but for now i’m gonna burn a chip that will be “winging” it i guess. I may contact a buddy that may beable to help me get a bin file from a good thirdgen tuning shop in Ohio for free. I just need something that will get me close

Will let you know, i appreciate it! wanna teach me how to weld? lol I hope to get a mig welder and do my own work with that but i’m gonna need some practice before i attempt anything major haha
yeah. till shit breaks.
thats where the fun comes in hahaha
i sure hope the motor dont break i got a feeling that rear end will be the first to go…then the trans but it should hold long enough for me to get a T56 in there or something
I wish I knew how to weld too. lol I still need my subframes welded so I can put my converter in and not twist my car in half. Then I can finally start my cam swap. Either way I’ll help any way I can.
i ran without subframes for 3 years… my car is still ok, i think
anyway i plan to buy a little mig welder and play with it. I’m sure we can figure it out. Bring it over, we’ll weld it up and then you can take my car over to that one place to get it inspected (er passed) again
congrats ,put a new seal in ur trans pump(front seal)
should i do this when its been rebuilt about 20K miles ago?
about time u work on it …lol
You missed the fun today. I got brave and welded my subframes. Happy to see you getting things done. Where did you get the motor from?
