It may push up but then it may fall down too. Tape probably wouldn’t hurt. Or depending how it’s set up unbolt it, push it up, then bolt it back on if it’s the setup like the scissors that go over a gear. I haven’t done one of those so I don’t know how it’s set up. Worst comes to worst, you can possibly unbolt it and just tape the window up. Like tape from outside window, over top of the door, down to inside of the window. I always did that when I was replacing motors. Just make sure it’s not tape that will mess up the paint. Masking tape leaves a residue after a while, I’ve seen packaging tape pull off paint. I’ve had good luck with blue painters tape.
Mine went in my a4 a few years back… passenger window wouldn’t go back up. I was in Tops parking lot, so i went in and got a roll of duct tape and a ruler. Then i took the door panel off and was able to push the window back up without much effort, and used the ruler to prop it up and the duct tape to hold the ruler in place. Worked great until the part came in.
probably not. I JUST had this happen at work today. Some lady came in and told me her window doesnt roll up so dont touch it. I failed to tell the other person working on the car and of course he put the window down. well I spent 30 mins trying to get it to go back up and it wouldnt budge. She is getting it fixed later in the week so she said it was Ok to tape it up and send her home. We just used masking tape to bridge the 3" opening
Of course I wish I knew this before I broke the arm rest clip. She will probably come back for us to buy her a new one.
Cliffs; the torque required to move the motor using the glass (or the arm) is probably more than can be safely applied (we had 3 guys lifting on the glass and pushing up on the scissor assembly). you miiiight be able to unbolt the motor from the regulator and then lift the glass up. depends on how it goes together really.
yep. just like mazdas (fml when those regulators pop apart!) the regulator and motor are all one piece.
you can always cut the cable then prop the window up, or cut the cable then vice-grip/screw the slider part to the track (unless you plan on doing that DIY of course)
edit: OR you can unbolt the window from the regulator and use good zip-ties through the window mounting holes and go up over the top of the door through one of the mounting holes.
but if you cant move the window to get to the bolt access holes it will probably be easier to cut the cable.
