Peak Performance - VERY DISSAPPOINTED

Peak Performance is supposed to make a great product

its a shame they have unbeleiveably poor customer service.

after sharing a couple e-mails with them 2 weeks ago we decided to set me up with an account with their main distributor, in California. I was to be an Eastern Canadian distributor, their first.

I must have made 15 international phone calls and spent over an hour on the phone trying to get ahold of the one person, who i had previously had e-mail contact with, who could set up my account.

i went so far as to fill out their applications, provide credit references, confirm an order for a few thousand dollars worth of parts (HKS / GREDDY / PEAK / COMETIC etc)

and yet even after all of this i was not contacted by the one person who tehy said i had to speak with to activate.

then before they processed my order i was told that the most urgently needed parts, which i had made sure were available, we in fact… not.

i cancelled my order and sent one final e-mail to Eddie, the guy who originally asked me to set up in this fashion who is also the guy who was needed to activate my account and set me up with Peak specifically because of his affiliations with both.

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO dissappointed that a company trying to build their operations would treat a distributor in an uncharted area sooo poorly.

its unbeleivable actually.

i had messages left on his desk by his associates, left messages on his machine, sent several e-mails… all over the course of an entire week… yet he doesnt respond once…

edited because big-byd doesnt like me mentioning my site on here*

this is a perfect microcosm of what is happening to the big names in the industry. through various means they are shitting on the distributors and wondering why their market share is declining to unbranded parts.

Sucks dude – but don’t get discouraged.

Bingaling can’t get discouraged from this!

In all seriousness, I’ve dealt with a few compnies myself and had major runarounds like this… I’ve done business in a few industries and I find the aftermarket performance parts industry is by car the most arrogant and conceded. Some of the big players are great, but a lot of them have some serious issues dealing with us small guys.

Anyway, just find another supplier there are plenty to choose from - I’ve never dealt with Peak Performance personally but HKS, GReddy, etc… can all be had at good prices from other suppliers…

im not worried about HKS and GReddy or that crap…

i wanted to bump Peak because they domesitcally produce high end gear…

that was my whole reason for setting up the account.

shame shame

with all due respect bing, but although things like this do suck, what exactly is the point of this thread, besides being an ad for your site?

what is the point of your Avatar aside from being disgusting?

i personalised this thread for SON, adding that one paragraph, but neglected to include it on other forums.

the point really is to expose Peaks poor practice and to comment on where the market is heading and why.

i’m touched, but the fact of the matter is that my avatar has nothing to do with your thread, so stay on topic bingo.

i understood this the first time around, but you may want to provide a link to this company such that people who aren’t aware of it will know who you’re talking about.

also, since we’re on the topic of big companies shitting on the distributors, now would be a good time to name any others you (or anyone else) has had poor experiences with. just a thought…

MEGAN RACING

do tell

Heh, well most witnessed this first hand in my group buy… but anyway.

I had 60+ people in total in that group buy (for the smartassess, it wasn’t only run on SON), with an average purchase of around $425 from each person. (do the math… thats a BIG order in my opinion).

Those jokers screwed me around like you wouldn’t believe - Giving me the run around every week when I called for a status update on my order that was already 2.5 months overdue, etc.

I was trying to fend off angry SON members (not really, most people were really good about it) making the same excuse “megan is screwing me around, sorry!” “sorry! megan is screwing me around” … it just got old, annoying, and I’ll never do a big group buy through them again.

I respect what they’re doing for the scene - bringing decent quality products at LOW prices. For what I paid for my coilovers, I don’t think I could have made a better purchase. Same goes for anyone running a Megan Catback or Muffler. But, customer service there is absolute garbage – the other thing was evey time I called they were giving me different prices for things… like they were just making it up. I ended up barely breaking even on that group buy even though I did $25K+ worth of transaction. I still couldn’t get any sort of a price break from them since it was my first order even though a measly 2 sets of coilovers can break their buy-in.

Anyway, their products have in general gone to crap as far as mark-up on cost goes because of their low buy-in of USD$1500 – every kid and his cousin has a dealer account with them. I’m not dissispointed that I won’t be doing any major business with them again. I still order the odd set of coils… I might be getting the track series for myself soon – I’ve been in an s13 w/ them and they’re actually pretty nice and not too harsh at all.

End Rant.

I think your avatar is hilarious, and so was your last one

my friend has an account with RMR and B-Tune for alot of big name parts like HKS, Greddy, Tein, Tokico, Work and Advan.

i know it’s distributing thru another middle-man, but the discount rates are good, and it allows you to have access to many brands thru one or two distributors (like PP).

anyway, maybe you can contact them yourself and see if you can get an account.

nah i already have accounts set up … i just dont list the branded gear on my site because the margins suck and all the companies suck balls to deal with

haha, the margins only suck on SON

SOOOOOOOOO MANY TIRE KICKERS.

But, that’s just what we deal with here on SON.

Seriously though, markup on a lot of brands is still 100% or more as long as you’re not buying wholesale. Wholesale will kill your margin, the wholesalers with buyins less than USD$20,000 or so will rape you and steal the majority of your magin.

Actually I’ve found the opposite, I have a very good rapore with the companies I deal with for name brand stuff.

On the other hand, the “asian” parts that i’ve sold have all caused me more trouble then the profit was worth, with not only defective item issues but the products were also difficult to market.

Although margins are less on branded items, I find that sales volume is greater which works for me.

Not to mention shipping anything less than a container from asia rapes you on logistics costs.

Just read this thread, thats discusting. I was thinking about their tie rods just to try out their product. Its good to see domestic made quality parts, but its great how domestic companies turn away a market. Like shit if you were bring there stuff up, I’d probably endup trying some of it along the way which turns into capital.

All I can say is their loss, the money will go over sea’s to Japan and Taiwan instead.

I’ve noticed this trend with alot of companies in the states. Its frustrating and rediculus. Its almost like they would rather not deal with Canada.
