Lets say that China somehow makes it onto US soil. They wouldnt make it far in a week. And like another poster said, there ships would be sunk easily.

Saw something on the Yamato 1 in the early 90’s. Apparently prototypes of the MHD drive have been built in the 60’s. Think about that a little and how technology has evolved since then. All the “cool” millitary stuff that we see on TV has probably been in development for a decade or so, if not even longer. So whats to say that China hasnt been developing something for quite sometime? Really nothing.
But I am kind of on the fence as to what would happen if China would start marching this way. I think that they might do a hell of alot of damage. In all honesty they dont even have to invade the us to defeat us. Hell they dont even really need to cross the ocean. If they take over Europe and Asia we are in trouble.

They would never make it to Europe… they have a lot of ground to cover and every Western Nation would be bombing the shit out of them. I could see them steam rolling over little Asian countries, South Korea would be done in no time and this is only because its a quick shot from the Yalu river down the Korean Peninsula and we wouldn’t have much time to respond. If they moved against Japan the US would be there in a split second with naval and air power, doubt they could make or maintain a foothold. I have no doubt that the US and our European allies could defeat them conventionally. If they were threatened with Invasion from the east by a Chinese or a possible Russian/Chinese alliance, watch how fast countries like Germany and Great Britain would revive their Military prowess.
Idk man look at what Germany did in WW2 with far less resources and a hell of alot less man power. Granted the times were different but still. i think if China descided to start fighting they can do alot of damage before they are stopped.
This is a ASAP time in military history, we have instantaneous communication with our allies, what happened in WW2 is long past.
I’d like to see what countries have some extremely advanced super weapon they’d bring out of the shadows, it’s been far too long since a breakthrough technology, war-time is a very productful and beneficial time for technology.
What is your point? Germany had the BEST technology of the day. At the beginning they were fighting armies stuck in WWI mindset, hell the Poles charged Panzer formations on horseback. The Germans also had excellent leadership (Generals like Rommel, Manstein etc) and was fighting demoralized and poorly led armies. They probably would have won had the decisions been left to the Generals and the war not been micromanaged by Hitler.
China would be better compared to the USSR in 1940, huge armies lots of equipment, little innovation. One may recall the winter war when Finland trounced the Russians in 1940 with 1/10 the manpower, it was only after the russians counter attacked with even larger numbers the tiny Finnish army was overwhelmed.
IMO, conventionally the Chinese and Russians are inferior to the West.
I don’t know… I see China as a country with low morals but extremely high initiative. I think one thing that is safe to assume is that even though they produce crappy quality stuff and sell it to the rest of the world (and make a ton of money doing it), that it doesn’t necessarily mean that they half-ass quality the same way with their own military. They are not stupid, and they are not lazy. They are goal oriented, and through efforts such as horrible wages and zero EPA standards, have become a country can produce…a lot.
I think it’s far too much to say that we would crush them when, in reality, we could have absolutely no idea what they have produced as far as military technology is concerned.
They are also a united people. They have a unified culture, dating back thousands of years. I think that would also help in forming a unified goal of, say, world domination.
I feel as though they follow the idea of speak softly and carry a big stick, except keep the big stick hidden until the right time.
That instance with the Chinese sub that I posted happened in 2007… 3 years is a long time in the world of modern technology.
man, idk most of what China has is Soviet era stuff. Their rifles tanks planes are all knock offs of Soviet hardware and the Soviet union has been gone for 20 years now, something to think about. The Communist regime is not popular in that country. The people know how we live, they know the opportunities of the western/capitalist culture. I dont think a war with the United States , and by default many of the powerful western powers would be very appealing to the Chinese people. Such a war would be devastating to their economy. Todays China is no longer the China of Mao Zedong with people brainwashed storming around Tiananmen square. IMO given the opportunity the Chinese people would throw off the remaining vestiges of Communism.
Also keep in mind that everyone has to serve in China. So even the middle aged men, have military training. In a crisis literally half their population (approx. 3 billion) could be soldiers.
While in the public eye they are in fact wielding that kind of military equipment, my curiosity is directed to what the public eye hasn’t seen. I’m sure there’s a chinese proverb about making others believe you are not as powerful as you really are.
But good point on the people… The world is far too connected to keep all western temptation out of their minds (even with the government control of media), so who knows how they would react.
China is speculated to have the most sophisticated cyber warfare network and capabilities in the world.
Their first move would be to knock out command and control center computer banks before they ever fired one shot. With this move they would have a severe advantage. It’s like kicking the legs out of a giant, you bring them down to your size.

JT76: All I am saying is that we are more then likely underestimating China. I could also be wrong on this but do we not sell china a lot of our surplus shit? Also the Chinese people are used to being worked to death to produce shit. Which means that if they have to keep working their asses off to produce military equipment its not going to be anything new for them. Now imagine putting half the union boys in the country on 14hr days with no weekends or pay increase. Half of them would probably strike.

While the US certainly does still have it’s large amount of good ol’ boys, the vast majority would be hiding behind their business cards, calling their lawyers saying “SOMEONE SHOULD DO SOMETHING!”, more concerned with who they could blame.
Though, an occupation of any country has always proven to be a constant struggle, and I’m sure that it’d be one hell of a struggle in this country.
