I’m sorry, but I lost my phone last night, and I’ve wanted to beat the shit out of random people all day today because of it. That and I felt, and still feel your comment was out of line. I don’t know you, and I don’t talk shit about you, therefore I expect the same. But I guess common decency is something that I would learn on the weekend, playing with my Playstation.
And you’ve yet to come up with a point for the RB26. But you know what, I’ll start it off.
6.46s ET, 220mph trap speed 2JZ, and it’s in a Solara to boot

heyy bro, how much did u pay for that 240Z? :o
…it’s honestly one of my future cars, I’m looking @ working on.
Fair enough trust me tired-ass RB versus 2JZ debate makes me feel the same way. Everyone thinks they know everything about each motor but have never owned or driven one.
Fastest AWD (RB26) in the world is 7.59 @ 190mph fastest RB26 is 7.16 @ 192 none of us will ever go that fast either. RB has had zero drag development in the USA where the fastest cars typically reside.
Motors share many similar qualities their bottom ends are good to 500-600whp, both have Getrag 6-speeds which tap out at the same point too. They both have problems: RBs starve oil, 2JZs crankwalk, RBs lean out #6, 2JZs have weak rods and pins blah blah blah.
Lets not forget the RB is less displacement and this “fastest 2JZ in the world” is actually a 3.3L stroker. The RB30 is just getting popular.
In road racing, the RB26 is one of the most dangerous motors in the world. the RB26 JUN Hyper Lemon owns the 2L-3L Gas speed record at 249.292mph(401.20km/h)
If this particular 240Z had either motor & 500whp it would reliable be scary as fuck. Period.
i just happen to have an complete r33 front clip and a complete rb30 bottom end …
oh rly?
Using it or parting with it. I started building a motor ;-p and have a perfectly fine working one in the car.
bmw’s are cool
Fair enough, well I’m pretty sure I just took your orig comment the wrong way, I’m gonna go ahead and drop this.
both forsale
Wow… that was easy ahahhaha look what I started!
Anyways my point was as Dave so clearly backed up that a comment like JZ being 3x better then an RB is really stupid.
Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it!
Yep, that was me.
^^Now that thing was more badass than any RB or 2JZ powered car I’ve seen @ Dunnville LOL
is EVERYONE forgetting that I brought a cool & calm SHIATA to that track!
Why cant I be a badass
No 2jz, no KA-T, no RB2x, No LSx. It will either be an SR20DET or a VQ35DE no exceptions. I dont want an iron block 6, or a V8. I have a fire breathing monster already, I only want it light and around 300whp. VQ and SR fit my needs, if I want stupid fast Ill take the 951 track car out.
Some new pics from today, unloaded it from the trailer, started looking at things to see what’s there, what’s rusty, and what not.
So I climbed under the car while pulling it off the trailer and to my plesent surprise the frame rails are in good shape, not rusted at all just a couple dents from improper jackstand placement. The floors seem to be almost entirely intact from below might just be a bit “soft” gonna see when I pull the carpet out. Strut towers (front and rear are perfect, rockers are perfect from the side and below. Overall an incredible buy, I’m EXTREMELY happy. Can’t wait to start working on it, will probably pull the spare parts out of the interior and start pulling seats/carpet today or tomorrow.
sr would meet your power needs as wel as give you a significant weight advantage over the vq. on the other hand NA hp is, well, NA hp. guess it boils down to what you want and how much $$$$ you got.
g/l with the car man, it looks like a good base. keep us posted.
peace
Made two disappointing discoveries today…
#1 The car was originally bright orange and was repainted red (UHHG, had it been orange I would’ve just left it)
#2 I found a few rot holes in the floorboards, was kinda expected, and I’m not upset considering the deal I got, but I was holding out a small sliver of hope that the entire chassis was rot free.
Pics!
Some of the stuff that came with the car, the blown trans, and the center piece of the lip spoiler that needs to be repaired. Some idiot decided to just chunk away a section rather than shaving the push button for the hatch lid. Uhhg.
The original Orange of the car. Wish it was still that!
Passenger’s floorboard
Driver’s floorboard
Man I love the interior on these… can you say Defi gauges?
Found this in the spare tire well with the other transmission parts, yep, she definitely spanked the trans.
That’s all for today, tonight I’ll pull the undercoating off the floorboards inside and figure out the extent of the rust, it doesnt appear to be to bad. I think I mayyyy drive it around this year with the new drivetrain/suspension and the faded paint. But that’s just a possibility.
Engine is ready to come out, gonna pull that tomorrow night, all I need to do is disconnect the exhaust. Oddly the car still had very clean coolant in it.
Ordered new floor pans we’ll weld in.
99% sure I’m going to put 996 GT3 Seats into the car. Carbon fiber shells with cloth.
Also in contact with the guys who did the cage on my 951…
I am simply in Love, Beautiful find, fix this up and either do SR or RB. This is a really sweet find and at that price, you got a KILLER DEAL.
Is the white car in the background a supra?
Awesome find man… For a car of it’s age, that’s fairly immaculate. Those rust spots will be super easy to fix with the new floor pans… Looks like you have a very, very solid base to build up your project on.
Please though, just restore it and don’t drive it year round… It would make baby Jesus cry. I’ll toss my motor opinion in too, since everyone else seems to be: I’m gonna say SR, I think the VQ would kill the balance of the car, and you may have fitment issues in that engine bay… I’m really looking forward to seeing the build up on this. Keep us posted for sure.
Hey Mike, nice car man!
Have you thought about the VH? It fits in a 240sx, maybe it’ll fit in a z?
There is no replacement for displacement.
Good luck man, I’d love to see the progress.
Theo
ps: sorry for calling you Dave, not sure how I mixed that up.
wow, awesome find man. Keep us posted with all the updates
btw, whatever engine you throw in there, if it’s done right, it’ll be sweet
