Slightly more inconvenient to open/damage, other than that. I fail to see any other drawback.
:word: i remeber oroc at the track, his hood was lifting as he was going down. we even tried to bungy it down and it still lifted, but then he spun a rod bearing
lol, yea, 4th gen hoods are what, like 4’ long?
But really, its just an 11# kite - sure it’ll be awkward to handle, but shouldn’t be a big deal. How often will you have to take it off at the track (cross your fingers), otherwise, in the garage, I don’t forsee you having a problem setting it down somewhere.
pin on WS6 hood … /thread
pins, yay!
When you’re compairing the wieghts of the two, are you taking in the weight of the pins and the hardware to install them too?
I’m also considering putting a light weight hood on my car…
Pin it, put slit rubber tubing on the edges that contct the ground when you take it off. Definitely safer than factory latches when a car is fighting torque.
Pins, its about saftey not looks.
for everyone who said not to pin it because it looks cleaner…damn ricers
:word:
I have a 5th pin at front edge in the center.
Give,s easy access for workin, especially w/set back of 4th gens.
U get good at liftin it off urself w/practice:pimp:
you could always go with the Aerocatch latch for a cleaner look
Ugh that sucked! 115+ mph stupid hood pops open, thank GOD for the release latch catching it, i’m considering pins just becuase i dont want to catch a hood on my lap
yea i pulled it off all the time, and then people stepped on it and it flew around my yard
bolt on NO DOUBT
yeah bolt on, but you dont want it opening when you are driving, So get pins for the front.
keep track over a few weeks how often you open and close your hood and then ask yourself if you want to take it on and off that often…
keep in mind drivers weight factors in, get a factory style fiberglass replacement and cut off a leg or something
either that or get a cam :deadhorse2::headbang:
if you’re worried about the look of the pins, I thought I remember seeing hood pints that mount flush with the hood??? just get those and paint them the color of the car…they will still be there bot not as noticeable if you’re really going for the stealth look.
although, from what I gather, your car has decent cam in it and is probably loud as fuck, so I don’t exactly know how much more “stealthy” you think the lack of hood pins is gonna make you
stock motor right now…lol
While the pin on hood maybee lighter, there is some draw backs to it,First If you take it off where do you set it down,On the roof?if its windy the hood will probably fly off.I heard of this happening at a car show a few years ago.The guy had to pay big bucks to have the other guys car fixed that it hit.Second i cant remember the name of the most common fasteners(not the ones with the bow clips)but the other ones that are flat with the hood can break or come unlatched sending the hood flying.I am not saying it happens all the time but i have heard of it happing more than once.If it was me a would stick with fiberglass bolt on.
Get the new style stuff so it not only looks clean, but it’s safe too. I have 4 of these sitting in a box somewhere at my father’s place waiting to be put on the 951.
(locking pictured, I have the non locking type)
