Pittspeed Fitness & Nutrition thread update:

Are there any good supplements that I could take to help me lose just a little weight and get more toned? My wife and I got to the gym about 3 times a week and do 25 min of cardio then work on our chest, back, abs, and arms for about 45 minutes (3 sets on each machine that we use). I don’t have the time to spend a lot of time at the gym everyday, but I would like to lose like 15 lbs (I weigh about 185 right now) and get some tone. My wife works at the GNC HQ downtown so I can get a discount on my stuff, but I don’t really know what to get.

I am not saying that NO2 products dont work, b/c I have never gave them a serious chance…but there is a ton of reviews that say it isnt too effective.

i like them

and if your getting a no2 product for $30, it probably isn’t going to work. most premium products cost around $50 for powder, and $70-$125 for pills. it is expensive, but it is a great workout tool. it is the best supplement breakthrough since creatine.

where do you get your products from? i’ve never seen many products over 70 bucks before, especially N02 products.

the only one i seen is MRI products…no2 black and no2 platinum capsule and they sell for about 90 bucks. but thats for 300 tablets

I get my stuff from Supplementcentral.com. good prices on stuff there.

Only other stuff i tried was GNC brand Nitro explosion. worked great but had caffeine so i felt lots of energy boost immediately from that. retailed at 60-70 a bottle for power, like 1.25 lbs or something like that but GNC with the gold card brought it down to like 40-50 bucks.

Stuff i use is Controlled Labs White Blood. 90 pills for 25 bucks from supplementcentral. Controlled labs retails it on their site for 49.99.

i work at gnc in ross park mall 1 day am month for the discount. no2 black costs $125 for the large bottle, nano x9 is around 79.99, nitrix is 89.99 for 420 pills…i get a discount,i don’t like ordering supplements online.

and there are a lot of reviews that also show the effectiveness of the l-arginine used in no2 products. l-arginine was mostly used in over the counter erectile disfunction pills, and when more studies were done with arginine, it was proven that it increases bloodflow through the whole body.

i am using altered state, no-xlode, cell mass, ce2, off-cycle, for my main supplements right now. i am also using aminos and thermogenics.

yeah there are some thermogenics that will help boost metabolism and burn fat. Combine that with a good cardio/intense workout and you’ll lose the lbs quickly.

alot of energy boosting products have fat burners in them.
something like this may work

you’ll have to read up on some reviews to see what has worked for some ppl. I never had to lose weight and always struggled to gain weight, but i did notice while i was on nitro-explosion that i became more tone. My weight didnt go up but strength did alot.

no ephedra, no work

yeah but isnt ephedra dangerous?

fda banned it i thought

Do you know if they sell this or something like it at GNC? My wife can get it for 40% off for me.

in all honesty. in moderation no. they banned it because a few asshats took over the reccomended allowance, didnt eat or drink and then were outside in the head for extended periods of time.

Chineese people have been taking it for years. in moderation with some exersize and still having a little bit of a diet, it is a very good tool to shed some weight.

they lifted the ban anyway

exactly. i took it for years and had no problem. there were 3 people who died from it: 1st-corey stringer(350lb), in summer camp, 2nd: a pitcher for the marlins i believe, in spring training, 3rd, is a retard who took it and sat in a sauna with a sweat suit on…

it is a very effective fat burner, people abused it. now were stuck with products that don’t work.

I agree, I also heard people were using to make some kind of drug as well.

not really

Also, I was talking to a buddy who is all into supplements…manager @ GNC and he said there are places that sell it but it is a very low amount per pill and you have to buy a ton of it to get the same effects of the original stuff.

the stuff they make now has half the origional doses. so double up for origional strength.

this shit is supposed to be the new top runner

thats cool. i never had to take any of that stuff before so i dont know much about it.

And i’m not sure what all GNC sells.

the best way to lose weight is through diet. even with epedra, diet is the key. there have been numerous studies proving that with or without thermogenics, diet works best. diet is around 75% of total weight loss.

i guess, you are what you eat

sucks for me tho, i can go without eating and i can eat alot, and i dont gain or lose weight at all. pisses me off

not eating isn’t the way to lose weight. eating 5-6 small meals, with good healthy calories, low fat, etc is the way to lose weight. im on a extreme diet getting ready to try bodybuilding, but i eat 10 meals a day…i have scrambled egg whites for breakfast with 2 buckwheat pancakes, then 2 hours later a protein shake, 2 hours later, another shake, small lunch, usually grilled chix/brown rice, then i drink a shake on way to the gym, another one on the way home, a can of tuna a little later, and 2-3 more shakes before i go to bed…

i mix my shakes with water, so it is only 200 calories per shake…i eat under 3000 calories, but get over 500 grams protein…

i guess thats my problem. i eat all the time…many smaller meals and take shakes as well. high protein ‘diet’. i dont know what i can do. i’m cut and getting stronger slowly but not putting on pounds. oh well

i good weight loss guide is around 1-2 pounds per week, anymore and your losing mucle…

a good weight gain guide is around 1 pound per month, anymore and your gaining fat…

it takes time, stick with it…

I can mostly agree with that…but I think you can gain more muscle than 1lb per month…I say 2-3 if you got a solid diet and routine.
