Obviously I don’t expect to see cops in GTR’s smart ass. But Ford Taurus, come on now. Usually people upgrade when switching vehicles. First was their brilliant idea of using V6 Chargers, total ass. Now they go to a TANK Ford Taurus. Yes when comparing it to other modern car’s they could choose, this Taurus fits right in with mid 70’s Cadillac’s. Do I really have to list the 10,000 other 4 door sedans they could go with? This sums up our government, blow the only pennys they do have on pointless shit. Maybe the town of Tonawanda should invest in some new streets rather than waist it on these pos cars.

List 10 good alternatives that come in automagic.

2011 Ford Police Interceptor Crown Victoria= 250hp/297ft/lbs weight loaded is 48xxlbs, cost $26xxx

2012 Ford Taurus Police Interceptor= 288hp/245ftlbs (n/a), 365hp/350ftlbs (ecoboost) didn’t get cost
2012 Caprice PPV= 355hp/384ftlbs cost is $31xxx

All of the newer V-6 ppv’s get 26-27mpg highway and 18-19 city. I’ve never seen a V-6 Charger cop car except on UB campus’. They seem to be a good fit in areas where there won’t be spirited driving.

List a 4-door sedan that YOU think fits the bill. Here’s the criteria. Minimum 350hp, REAR wheel drive, seats 4 and cost is UNDER $32k

Couldn’t find any huh? Yeah, me neither. I checked out BMW 3-series, but it came up way short. 300hp/300ftlbs for the turbo 335i and it was almost $50k, lol. The base 3-series was anemic and still over $32k. So then I took your advice and looked at volvo’s. The 4-door models start with 250hp, in order to get ANY power you have to get the turbo models and then you are talking $40k and they still fall short of 350hp.

^haha I wasn’t serious about VO, the S60 is a sweet car but way over priced. If your focused on HP numbers and the price, not too much is gonna trump it but on a serious note, do police need 350whp? Seems like overkill. They should be getting cheap Toyota Prius’s or Chevy Cruze’s, base models that cost nowhere near $30k. You go anywhere else like Charlotte NC for instance, all of their cops drive mid to late 90’s cars. Granted it doesn’t snow much there so they don’t have rot problems from salt but they’re still all beat to hell. If you take care of the cars, you don’t have to buy brand new SHO’s every couple years and maybe some of the local roads wouldn’t be like driving on the moon with pot holes that will quite literally swollow your car whole. Let’s be serious, the cops around here aren’t having any problem patroling or harassing us locals, it’s not like they are desperate for new cars, they are just waising tax payers money on unnessisary things.

You have to remember that they add an easy 400-500lbs to the car. How would the Prius like that? Again, there is no import car that can touch the Ford or Chevy specs, especially in price.

I honestly don’t think that they replace THE ENTIRE FLEET every year. Probably every 2 years or 100,000+ miles. It’s funny how you mention how bad the roads are though. You drive a lowered EVO. I’m sure your car notices every little glitch in the road. I don’t think the roads in the suburbs are that bad, or maybe I just don’t notice it?

I think it’s hilarious how cops always pick half ass car’s to use that are good for one thing only, straight line. Like every other US made car, you throw a couple turns in the mix and cops are driving into buildings and flying off the road. For one, majority of cops can’t drive. Then every department chooses a front wheel drive car that weighs in at 8 tons and sits 3 feet off the ground with shit all season tires and half ass suspension. Not that I’d ever run from the cops but it really wouldn’t take much for anyone with a real car that can drive.

Then you have to consider the cost of maintaining these shit bag cars, eternity of idle time supporting all the electronics, tons of tires, brake rotors & pads, as well as oil/filter, airfilters, plugs etc. A Dumbestic car is much more cost effective than anything off shore.
