Police package tuaurs on the streets here

You think holding steel at 210 deg for years will case harden it?

not my opinion but the opinion of many

easy, easy… everyone knows the guy enamored with driving a 1998 crown vic ex police car is most likely a genius

The80sCrownVic has spoken.

I wouldn’t know, I don’t have a 1998 crown vic ex police car, I didn’t know owning a cheap daily to be able to afford nice toys made one stupid…

If they are awd it makes sense, if they are 2wd it should be entertaining.

I would like to see an average police forces maintenance schedule. I’d bet that the cars get serviced quite often. Probably has a lot to do with the longevity.

the case hardening thing wasnt really literal, just the cycle of cold to hot to cold over and over takes its toll, theres an old joke about cop cars “it was started in 2003 (or whatever the year of the car) and shut off last week”…

different departments maintain differently, most local PDs are decent, the troopers are good, Buffalo city and Erie Co are terrible and the cars are usually ragged out in every way possible…

When I worked for Aamco we did the maintenance for Buffalo police. Their maintenance schedule was bring it in once it breaks.

Are the the new police package, set up with the seats for duty belts. the cars need to be able to also take an impact. on off road use.

most of these cars run 24/7 so the cold start i can not see being a big issue.

i would like to see the fleet price that ford gives out.

This thread is insane. Seriously. An STi? Manual transmissions aren’t going to fly, cops have to play solitaire on their laptops. Besides wtf do they need 4 piston brakes for and an adjustable center diff. The price jump from a wrx gives them nothing they would need anyway. And hybridouche should actually look into what is expected of a cop car before he goes off on what is being used. What could you possibly suggest? People act like cops really need something to chase down a ferrari. If you own a fucking ferrari you can afford any lawyer and can afford to get out of any possible combination of tickets. Do people still not understand how the world works? Cops don’t need to be able to physically catch up with every car that is speeding in a flat out race. Its really barely an issue.

People dog vic’s but they are great for police cruisers, slow? sure. But they are simple and super reliable and functional.

the fleet price is in post one. nearly 10K off MSRP, The big deal with the ecoboost is that the MPG is actually a IMPROVEMENT from the existing vic platform. You have to remember that when it is not in boost it is a regular V6 direct injection engine. So on paper it will be cheaper to operate pending maintenance cost stays close.

i cant believe people get such huge hard ons over cop cars

go be a cop!

lololol new sig

New performance package for Taurus.

"There’s no extra horsepower added to proceedings, but parts like the firmer suspension springs and dampers, upgraded cooling system, high-performance brake pads and stability control that can be turned completely off "

The kid’s a faggot. I’d drive a car shaped like a penis daily if it meant I could have a C6 Z06 for a fun car.

You guys are lucky in WNY… All the cop cars are marked and relatively obvious; They’re mostly predictable in paint, make/model, etc.

Out here in UT; fucking game on. The cops drive anything/everything, marked/unmarked (and it’s legal to pull you over in an unmarked!). I’ve seen everything from the typical Charger/Tahoe/F-150 to Explorers, Cruze’s, Camry’s, new Mustangs, new Camaros; a newer Evo, a STI, Jeep Grand Cherokee’s, etc. I think they confiscate them in all the drug busts they do and then retrofit them with all the internal gear/lights and use them.

I saw one of these today in tonawanda on the boulevard. So they are definitely in service already.

I agree
I like my Vic, I have owned V8 RWD full frame cars since my second car ever (first was a buick century lol)
after 16yrs or so driving this kind of car its what I am comfortable driving

Show me another 100% rust free car with under 80k & turn key I can pick up for $3k and I will consider it…
