That site is Biased heavily towards amsoil. Its sponsored by amsoil.
heres a good read on oil filters …
Perfect choice bro, I’m with you all the way:cool:
I did a who shitload of research on oils before i decided which to use in my car.
Its in an all aluminum V8 (LS1), but im guessing it would be just as good for any other motor also.
Heres my findings:
Mobil 1 Synthetics - Stain the internals. After 20k miles of this sh!t in my truck (iron V8, but i see it on all aluminum engines i see) the crank, rods, block etc all come out with a nasty brown tint on them.
Castrol 0w30 - The german stuff (it says made in germany on the back, the US stuff is no good) is amazing. I picked up 6rwhp in my v8 with it. Its a yellow-green coloured oil, its down right amazing. 15k with it, id never use another oil again. Came out clean on all 5 changes, motor feels like it revs up easier etc. I use it with a Fram synthetic filter.
lol yea its the same filter. I sounds cooler when you ask for a 350z oil filter at the desk
5w50 mobile 1 full synthetic. and fram filter. in the summer.
Red Line fluids with a NAPA gold filter (made by Wix)
Royal Purple and K&N oil filter, but Im currently trying out the NAPA NASCAR filter.
Castrol GTX synthetic with K&N oil filter. Never had any problems.
In my winter beater (1991 Buick Lesabre) I used Castrol GTX ever since it was new. It’s now got 387,000 km’s on it, all original engine parts (except the water pump) and still running strong and scoring zeros on the e-test!
motor:
AMSOIL 10W30
Nissan 15208-53J00 filter
diff: motul 90pa
tranny: motul gear300
brakes/clutch: motul rbf600
alesserfate has it right.
the 53j00 is the part number for the SR motor, its taller and wider than the 350z filter.
the 350z/g35 is 15208-65F0C
the most common nissan filter (most cars, trucks, etc.) is 15208-9E000
The SR filter is 15208-53J00
in my bimmer I used Royal Purple 10w40 in the winter, and Amsoil 20w50 series 2000 in the summer. Always use the bmw oem filter. I’ve taken aftermarket filters out of bimmers and they just crumble to pieces from the heat and stress.
Would a SR filter be cross compatible for a KA motor?
IIRC the thread is the same for most, if not all nissan filters. The reason for different part numbers/filters is clearance issues.
I think the biggest issue in changing from the 55Y00 (OEM KA filter) to the 53J00 (SR filter) would be possible oil pressure changes. I believe the filters are around the same size, but maybe the 55Y00 is actually a bit bigger.
So…in short…I have no idea. lol
Use the appropriate filter for the motor, although they twist onto different engines, the thread spec might be slightly different. I had filters shoot off the oil block at the top of 3rd and lose most of the oil in seconds.
s14 sr and s13 sr oil filters are different
I use NuGold from Canadian Tire. $1.99 per litre.
OEM oil filter.
This is in my SR.
I agree. Ahmed should get his own blog.
