not entirely true.

True, 90% of the work that was done on the actual “conversion” itself was performed by VooDooTec. The rest of the work that was not directly related to the OEM RS4 mesh was done by a couple of knowledgeable local enthusiasts. Your attention to the inner details of the manifestation of my automobile’s bumper intrigues me, and I thank you for clarifying this for us…

Hey man…how ya been? I saw you on the 290 last month at midnight. I was driving my girls jeep and you flew by me doing at least a buck-20. Looking pimp bro! PM me sometime…

Cheers

i was thinking that the work done by our “local enthusist” which included;bumper removal, actual body work, plastic welding, molding, paint prep, painting, and bumper fitment was more than 10% of the work.

Not that i really care other than i don’t like seeing quality work being credited somewhere else…

First off, I’m trying hard to comprehend the relevancy of the importance of “who” actually performed the conversion. All I know is that when AW and AZ people who are not DIY’ers with respect bodywork want to get their OEM S4 bumper converted to an RS4 style bumper, the first person that everyone directs them to is LI-S4 (VooDooTec) as he really does a hands-down awesome job on the cutting, shaping, and application of the RS4 mesh into the OE bumper inserts. If you disagree with the level of quality of his work and the time he allocates to getting it done right then I suggest you discuss it with him or the hundreds of people who’ve had him do work for them. People don’t seek out any “special” hands to do the rest of the bodywork or painting as “special” is not an attribute that someone who is well trained needs to instill to do the rest of the bodywork that does not pertain to the actual fitment of the RS4 mesh. You might think that cutting and tapering three $90 pieces of mesh only takes an hour or two and that its really easy to get it to look OEM, but as I tried to convey to you during the final install when one of you said, “that would have been easy to do…I could’ve done it.” I stand to disagree, its not that easy. Even after doing it dozens of times. Maybe 90% is unfair…so I’ll say 80% instead. And please don’t lump “bumper removal” into the “quality work” comment. For the record: The vast majority of the actual RS4 conversion of my bumper was performed by LI-S4 from AW, aka VooDooTec. Great guy, reasonable prices, excellent workmanship. ([email=“LI-S4@VooDooTec.net”]LI-S4@VooDooTec.net) Remote V1 displays and RS4 bumper conversions.

As an FYI to others wondering where this is coming from. I did the bumper conversion and Chris seems to downplay the work that went into it. Griped about a VERY reasonable price i gave him for the work, yet shelled out a retarded ammount for somebody else to cut the these pieces of plastic mesh.

Like all my DIY’s, i take lots of pictures showing the process and if you can’t grasp the steps involved in the process, i’ll be more than happy to post them all.

I’m not looking for recognition, but to say somebody else did the work or that i did only 10% is ridiculous.

And yes, cutting plastic mesh is child’s play. The “value” of the pieces doesn’t make the work more difficult or more “specialized”. I’m sure the guy has great mesh orientatioin skills and he did a good job…but no where near to the level you have stuck in your head.

If you wanna go into the details we can start a dfferent thread. Otherwise, GL with the sale.

This is my last response with respect to this whole bumper thing. I’ll give you the last word if you choose to take it, because I really don’t care.

First, you didn’t “do” the bumper conversion. Rather, you did the following: simply snipped-out the center slats, filled the gaps left from cutting them out, prepped and painted the bumper, melted the center mesh onto the bumper. Give yourself credit for doing this work but please don’t come off as if you should get recognition for things like mixing paint, pulling off a bumper, putting a bumper back on, and alligning a bumper so that there is a minimal gap between the bumper and fender.

Second, If the mesh conversion is “child’s play” then why do so many people on AW and AZ ship their inserts to VooDooTec rather than do it themselves? The people who attempt this on their own never get a positive response from members of the forums. That’s why people have VooDooTec do it for them, so its done right. When I posted my pics on AW, people responded by staing things like, “that’s the best RS4 bumper conversion I’ve ever seen.”

Third, If my memory serves me correctly (which it does) I paid you guys $450 to do the work, and when you told me that that would be the price I never bitched about it at all. In fact I threw a couple extra bucks at ya (remember I left it on the floor by the back door leading into the kitchen???) Depending on which of you two are actually writing in this thread, you may not recall the extra money I left there because it was only intended for one of you…the one of you who got all dirty putting the bumper on). One of you wouldn’t take it (you know who you are) so I left it there for you…

yeah, I “griped,” whaterver you say. Please don’t insult my ability to readily pay a reasonable amount of money for a service by stating that I “griped”. You know I have the means, so trying to make me sound like a cheap-ass really isn’t what’s called for and I’m a bit surprised that you’re dropping down to the level of insulting my character. If I was actually a “griper” when it comes to paying for things for my car (the mods) then why is every part that I bought for it only quality/new parts? I could have bought used, crappy parts but instead I bought only the quality parts that I knew were right for what I was trying to accomplish for this car. This I can prove. Plus cheap-asses don’t leave extra money for someone who did work for you sitting on the floor of a foyer as I did.

Fourth, “yet (he) shelled out a retarded amount for somebody else to cut the these pieces of plastic mesh.” If you think that one of my closest and best friends (LI-S4) charged me a retarded fee to do the RS4 mesh conversion you’re way off. He didn’t want others thinking that he would give hand-outs as he did for me, which was unsolicited BTW. So what I paid him, and what he charges others for the actual job is two exclusive figures.

I’m really done discussing this as I promised myself that I wouldn’t spend more then one cup of coffee worth of time on it…and my cup is just about empty and I ain’t drinking the last few cold drops.

BTW: Thanks for hijacking my FS post; I’m sure people are now enamored more in our banter than what the actual post is about. Just trying to sell my car and you feel the need to get involved, I’m much obliged. Your response will be read but not responded to so be sure to take more shots at me, I can care less. The handful of people on here who actually know me know that I’m a stand-up guy so say what you will…I’m not concerned, but it did, in fact, take a second cup of coffee for me to get this written…damn!

Hope you have a prosperous '07…
Take care

and  @ you downplaying josh’s abilities.

glws, and good luck with getting anybody to agree to that “loan with my cousin” deal.

Hell, I don’t even think I’d do a loan with him…and he’s my cousin! LOL

You have a nice car…but insulting some very very well respected board members in this thread is not really going to help sell your car. So I suggest you get back on the topic of selling your car and save the drama for another day.

Seriously? I didn’t ask him to inject himself into the thread. He took it upon himself to chime in. We’ve had this discussion before, yet he feels the need to reopen an argument we’ve already had and was, as far as I thought, put to rest.

I understand that its not necessarily going to elicit the sale of my car, but my disagreements with Joe should have no bearing on my car, it’s condition, and all the mods that have been done to it. If someone thinks that I’m anything other than a stand-up individual, well, then, let this be an open invitation to come and meet me. They’ll see I’m no different than any of the rest of us. Hell, I’m sure you and I would get along just fine 2TurboZ.

Further, the funny thing is the fact that aside from our little falling out, I have alot of respect for their knowledge pertaining to cars and overall they’re really cool guys. Joe taught me alot about my car, and I always thanked him for his time. We just had a disagreement that couldn’t be looked past even though I’ve tried a couple of times to reconcile to a more amiable coexistence…it was declined.

What can I do? I said what I have to say to lafengas, let him (them) have the last word as I’m done discussing it with them.

Keep it to PMs next time

At 16 posts…not too many people know you and its not a good first impression.

I hear ya, will do. Thanks for the advice, not used to using PM’s as AW (where I’m ususally at) doesn’t have that added option to communicate.

too long to read…can someone post the cliff notes?

here’s you’re cliff notes, you came into his FS thread acted like a dick, and then the rest of the board jumped on him.

at least thats what i got out of it? :stuck_out_tongue:

the commet of “who did the actual work” pretaines directly to the inaccuracy of his listed claims, not any beef with him.

If i was selling a vehicle that was modified by a shop down the street and claimed it was done by Foose would it be any different?

who cares to be honest, it’s a bumper, and what does it have to do with his for sale thread. Does the matter of who did it change what the car is worth?

obviously i care. nothing bothered me about chris until he said i only did 10% of the work.

oh, ok I understand then, you are just being a girl throwing a tantrum. I’m done, this is stupid lol

edit: GLWS man.
