The M45/M35 projectors are not bi-xenon. I have a separate high-beam in my car. I take it you are looking at getting 3" projectors then?
If so, my personal recommendation from experience is TL projectors with a ZKW-R clear lense. You can get the combo on TheRetrofit’s site. I personally miss that setup (had it on my Maxima) and my M just doesn’t compare. I’m sure if I added a clear lense to my M it would be a little better, but what I loved about the TL setup was that the beam was WIDE. I could light up 7 lanes of highway a good 2 or 3 truck lengths in front of me just fine. And the high-beams were AMAZING.
However, looking at their site, the FX-R has pretty good output as well.
Regardless, I’d pair this retrofit with a 55w HID kit from DDM Tuning.com for sure to get the most light out of these things.
My retrofit + parts (new EBay headlights, harness, etc.) + labor (guy in FL did it for me) cost me about $800. If you are doing this yourself, it won’t cost you that much, but for a top notch setup…get ready to pay.
Here is my old TL setup:
Sometimes…I miss that car. Handled like it was on rails, had an awesome sound system, and looked (to me) great. Not to mention the attractive hand made headlights and taillights (LED).
Yeah don’t hurry into it. The guy I went to was highly regarded in the Maxima world and he was awesome. Sent pics along the way, etc.
A friend of mine on the NYCMaximas forum went with Lightwerks and they came out pretty sick. They even did the ‘iron man’ look (as we called it on that forum) where they had little LED’s in the projector shroud set up to work with his parking lights. Looked pretty awesome.
i prefer HID’s now. i just gotta mess with my ride height sensors. mine are pointed to the lowest position. car doesnt like being that low and complains at me. :lol
