Ok…so i am getting body work done to my car. One of my smoked corners broke (which was my fault not theirs) and the dealership tells me that they are gonna replace it with the stock amber corner light. Question is…can the do that, or do they have to replace it with another smoked corner?
you can dispute it
just bitch a little bit, tell them to leave it broken and to knock the retail value of the piece of your bill
I believe they would have to return it back to original (OEM) condition. Especially if its your fault. You can’t dent a rim, and then expect them to buy you a new one.
I would look at the price difference, and offer to pay that, for the smoked.
yea…just figured i’d see what people thought…no big deal either way because the smoked corners are not too much $$$
TELL THEM U DONT WANT THE CORNER LIGHT… u are in the drivers seat so-to-speak… buy a smoked one on your own if u want
ok basically…my car is at towne right now getting body work done…because people are stupid…and like to hit my car…
the insurance is covering everything but my deductable…
now it’s covered…so that;s why i am wondering if they have to replace it as it came into the shop…which was with a smoked corner light
that is not true----they have to repair it to PRE-ACCIDENT condition.
Took the words right outta my fingers
Don’t forget that you trunk liner was involved in this incident.
^^HAHAHA how did i know you were gonna say something about that
tell them u want the smoked and u will pay the difference between OEM and smoked…
Doesn’t have to , they have to repair it exactly the way they got it, unless he gives his consent to change it. I could understand if it was the other way around and he was changing it from stock to aftermarket, then maybe pay the difference . Say he screwed up one wheel in this accident and they were aftermarket wheels, they arent gonna throw one OEM wheel on it.
(skunk, none of this is directed at you specificly, its a general description of the way stuff works, especialy with some of the cheap ass shit people install)
technicly, they have to repair it to pre accident condition. this doesnt always happen tho
the reason why is usualy that its a bitch to get some of teh stupid crap that people have on their car.
no body shop wants to sped 5 hours on the phone calling places trying to find a copy of some crap you put on your car from EVEN YOU dont know where, and you dont remember the size, and the exact color, and what you had to modify on the part to actualy get it to fit …
now obviously a corner light is easy stuff… maybe
but if you make THEM put the corner light on your car, then its THEIR fault if it doesnt fit, and no body shop realy wants to deal with that shit
then figure how they feel about ebay rims, which only come in sets of 4
or aftermarket mirrors, those only come in pairs
or a cold air intake thats not even good quality …
“need one, ins. paid for only one, can only buy them in sets of 2 / 4 / 9 / 87” situations a very unprofitable for a body shop
hense why unless you can provide them with the proper replacement parts, they are going oem …or they are leaving it broken
if the go oem, you get the diff btween oem cost and what ins paid (if anything)
if they leave it broke, you get what ins paid to do it yourself, despite what it might ACTUALY cost
that is a good point my little one…
a very good point
:word:
You just need to show them receipts from everything. Even aftermarket parts. I’ve done this a few times.
oh yea, aftermarket wheels, grey area
if you can show that its available, and that your busted wheel was in great shape, you can get full replacement cost
if you have some cheap ass 7 year old 3 blade wheel that they arent gonna be able to get, they will pay you what one of the cheaper factory alloys cost
my s10, the ins company wrote the estimate to include the price of one stock steelie, despite having aluminium 17’s all the way around
i doubt i have any receipts…
oh well…no big deal
see if they will work with u. in my car accident they had a estimate written for three rims to be replaced. i only got 2 new rims so they took the other rim and credited my deductable
^^^^ coughillegalcough
for something like that u prob dont need reciepts, but they arnt gonna go outta their way to look for your aftermarket parts, just tell them not to put and lamp it and to credit you the amount allowed. and just go buy your own lens
