question about engine bay on S2000

how large is the engine bay of a S2000. is it possible to fit a V8 in there without it looking like it was shoe horned in there?

looks like you could fit a SBC in there pretty good, but i forgot i know nothing at all about cars

you could always put this in

I can’t see it being any smaller than the engine bay of a 2nd gen RX-7. A guy at the NASA lap event had one (rx7) with a heads/cam LS1 under the hood, and it looked right at home there.

well if you dont know for sure then dont reply

hehe you fucker!! ive been scetching this al out on the comp for awhile

when we (emage) did the turbo job on the one s2000 this winter i thought the same thing so i started measuring!
there is a ton of room in that thing!! the question i would have for it would be ground clearence… i think a ls1 would fit easy in there but i think ground clearence of the pan might be a little low… if switched to flatter oil pan on per say a corvette i think you be in the clear…

modification to the tranny tunnel would be a must but i dont think you be looking at anymore work then say sliding a ls1 into a 240 or a rx7…

  1. you make a thread to ask a question
  2. I answer your question
  3. you ignore my answer and have nothing better to say but insult me
    :wtf:
all im saying is if you can fit an LS1 into an RX7, why couldnt you in a S2000?
    just like mike said

the japs can even make a v8 with torque

I agree, it could be done. What I would do is just get a full corvette LT1 (if thats the route you wanna take). Its already setup as skinny and tight as it can be. Placement shouldn’t be hard at all, but like sinister said, you’ll probably have to do some beatin on the center tunnel to get a trans up in there off the ground enough… it would though determine what trans you use. A richmond for example might be smaller to get a better fit…

Why.

cause honda motors are poop…

ls1 300+hp right out of the box

I would be concerned that the low end torque from a V8 could very quickly become a big concern in that chassis. The stock honda motor is no where near a torque producer (especially at low rpms) and even the boosted S2K’s out there are not producing huge torque down low where it would most stress the chassis.

somebody was thinking the same thing

its called reinforcments

The chassis out to be able to take it since it’s designed to be stiff for handling and such.

You aren’t very familiar with the s2k chassis obviously.

no im not and why i asked about the motor bay. if its made out of metal it can be reinforced

i am…

it can easly handel the tourqe,

You aren’t very familiar with the s2k chassis obviously.

Your aren’t familiar with a welder then are you?

Go ahead and throw an ls1 in an s2k and see what happens. Your ignorance is amusing.

& u know it all!
