Race City Drifting
Hmm, looks to me like you were in the top 3 of the drivers who participated in one event.

“And the best drifts of the night in no particular order: Cueman, sil_eighty, rage2”

Judged by a guy who put himself in the top 3. I wasn’t there, so maybe these were the best 3. Maybe there were only 3 drivers, who knows? I mean you obviously have some skills, but don’t let it go to your head . . . :butthead: No need to be rude :argue
Archie, I agree 100%, and couldn’t have said that better myself.

You all know that nothing beats Christian’s Cressy! NOTHING!

hehehe

I can’t wait to see his car this year. The suspension that’s going in it is going to make it ride like it’s on steel bars.

Technically I was more impressed by the guy with that ultra-clean white Corolla. He was neat and tidy, even if he didn’t manouver wildly and spray tire smoke all over the place.

Sil_eighty, you definately have SOME skills - no one can deny that, but I’d hesitate to say you are the best out there. Hell, all you’ll have to do is beat your car up all year long to prove me wrong.

Ok, some of you people really need to calm down, allright, here are some facts, yes Marc does run his mouth here and there and stirs some trouble but thats his online persona, i know him in real life and he is a good kid, so before you all cut him down, at least try to get to know him a little, but also whatever, this is the internet people makes cuts back and forward so its understandable…

Yes, Marc does have a accident background, especially with that 350z situation but pinpointing all the accident on Marc, where the 350z driver personally accepted the fact that he was following too close…

btw this is the quote that started everything

I wish Bud Park was using that extra space (and time) for autocrosses instead… what a waste.
than marc replies and all hells breaks loses and people starts throwing the easy jabs and pokes on his past… i dont want to point fingers but it easily shows that some of you are so quick to dish out insults but not take it as easily when u receive them…

Now I know so many cases that people hates on Marc, than they go in a trip in his car for a little drifting around town and they can barelly breath after the ride is done. Now if i was Marc, i wouldnt even bother replying to some of the people in this thread, retrain my words and bring it all to the track and show ppl how a good drifter he is on the track, not on the internet… especially with the better vehicle planned for summer…

It is obvious that drifting\jdm cars are not as popular as autocross\usdm in this club which is perfectly fine and everybody has their preferences, it also is in the very nature of a human being, when human beings are confronted by something new\or they dont understand, they panic and attack it, but with over time some of those feelings will be conquered and accepted, so as a drifting\jdm car enthusiast, we just sit back and wait for that day…yes Marc sometimes saying stuff he shouldnt say does not help but that doesnt mean opposition should be so close minded and judgemental… I personally was really happy when i heard that there is an actual legal track that us drifters can go practice every friday night instead of doing it on the huge parking lots or late night roads which is dangerous and stupid…

There has been years of autocross in Edmonton and everybody was doing it, JDM\Drift scene is a scene that is rapidly growing and it is getting attention from the bussiness owners simply as an investement opportunity. Now some of you has to accept that and learn to live with it because you are going to see more and more JDM cars and you are going to see more and more people trying to drift, so which one would you prefer ? somewhere that they can do it on an official track ? or do it on the streets due to lack of official track and danger themselves and other peoples lives ?!

No disrespect, i dont mean no harm,i dont post on the site so much, i usually just kick back and read whatsup, i am not personally advocating Marc in this situation but i believe the whole concept is understood wrong, merely trying to bring an end to this hate thread and make everyone happy again…

Well said. :thumb

I think you might have us wrong Slide.

I love the fact that more organized venues for motorsports in general are opening up in Edmonton! I totally agree that drifters should have a place to go do their thing, after all, the autocrossers and draggers have their venues.

It’s not a matter of drifting being new and us not accepting it - I was reading about drifting several years ago and researched it a bit. I think it’s fun to watch, but it’s not for me to take part in. Personally, I’m interested in performance rally, another motorsport which is starting to heat up in North America (finally!).

The only beef I had with Sil_Eighty was his claim that he’s the best drifter in Edmonton and then not offering any evidence. You have to understand, people with huge egos are right up there on my pet peeve list. If you’re the best drifter in Edmonton, then prove it, please, I’d love to watch you do it - and if there is any way I can help you do it somehow, let me know.

Believe me Sil_Eighty, few people want you to live up to your words like I do…I want everyone in the club to get what they want out of motorsports so we can form a community of folks that helps each other. Shit man, come to the next meet and I’ll buy you a beer. (And then I’ll get my Wiggaz to jack your rims while you inside, know what I’m sayin’? :E)

Slide, your comments are interesting, but you’re a little late to this party.

Yes my initial comment about autocrossing may have started this whole thing, but I was not hating on anything or anyone. It was Marc’s dissing my car undeservingly that prompted my retoric cheap-shot about his past drifting accident. (Yes I know the actual details of the event from the 780 posts, but that wasn’t the point, and frankly I don’t care who’s fault it was).

Anyway:
Point 1) I accept Marc’s apology.

Point 2) My intent was not to show hating on drifting. It was merely showing my frustration for the lack of expanded venues for a form of motorsport that already has a huge and ever growing following. Currently there is only ONE truely ideal location that hosts autocrosses and that’s the Namao base. NECC is just one more club on an expanding list of entities that also wants to host their own, thats yet one more club thats going to have to compete for track time at the venue. We NEED more autocross venues, period.

Not sure anyone can argue with that one, man.

Not only does he have a huge ego, he also has huge balls and a capable car. Makes for an interesting combination.

I can honestly say I have yet to see anyone in Edmonton do it like Mark.

Well, we’ll see when all the drifters have a real place to go this year! Should be good times for those of the dorifto persuasion.

sorry, its true i am a little late to the party, i just red it now… Well, apologies have been made and they’ve been accepted so its all good in the hood…

I believe marc ment to say he is the best drifter in edmonton and i believe he is and i hope he will go out to events and show everyone how its done

Hey 2003specv, nice sig pic btw! :thumb

common guys its all just for fun, its not like we are competing for anything. Well I think I am just going to come out and watch, mainly due to my car being a pos.

Thanks! BC is killer for nice pics.

I don’t know Marc, Jason, or Kris personally, so normally I would not have stuck my nose into the fracas. But when someone challenges a Spec V with a Sonata, that’s just trash talk. Maybe Marc really is that good . . . that’s not the point. It shows utter lack of respect. You never heard Wayne Gretzky challenging anyone like “you bring your hockey stick, I’ll bring my broom”.

My point is that if you want in on the group hug, you gotta play nice

And Marc, no matter how good you are, there is always someone better. There are a lot of people who were high school champ / valedictorian that don’t pass intercollegiate tryouts or med school quota. When you get older, you’ll realize that. In the meantime, just tone it down a notch and you’ll get a lot more support from the club. Peace!

Man, I can’t wait to see everybody strut their stuff. Personally, I think egos should be left at home. We should be helping eachother to grow and improve our skills. Not bickering about who’s the best or who’s got skills. It’s just not classy. In the end it all comes out in the wash anyway.

That said, newcomers like me have some catching up to do and I can’t wait to get started! :partyman:

B-Wurm

i know theres ppl better than me…im trying to encourage new comers
i used the wrong aproach…

and PryeXXX u dont even have a clue… :yawinkle:

Exactly. It doesn’t have to be a competition guys…unless that competition is who can make the most tire smoke. :E

Thats true!! I’ve never met ya Marc, I seen the vid. I will be the first to say you do have some skills man. BUT… like you said you are taking the wrong approach on encouraging people, your just turning people that don’t know you off and make them not want to support you!!

Agreed with everything above.

Not sure how I haven’t got a clue, since I said that I hope you are as good as you say you are and that I’d come out and watch an event or two. How many folks on the internet post things like that that aren’t ignorant?

I could have said that you’re a fucktard with no skills whatsoever - but I didn’t did I? All I said was I wanted proof of what you claimed, and I also admitted that you looked like you had some skill from the video link you posted. How that makes me clueless is beyond me - perhaps you’d like to clarify.

Bah, whatever - I give up. Drift or don’t Drift, there is no try.
