i have the passport 8500 and i was just wondering if you can update it and how do u find out if there is an update for it?

Here’s a useful bit: With both V1 and 8500 it is always cheaper to e-bay the old one and buy an updated one than to pay the comapny to upgrade.
really its that much to upgrade? i figured they just plug it in something and update it like that
I think the X50 is the most updated, I dont believe they have released different versions of it. For all the people telling you to sell it and get a V1, waste of money unless you really need the arrows that badly, differences in detection are negligible.
If I get hit radar from anywhere, I slow down.

x50 is the latest for 8500, regular 8500 can be upgraded for POP for like $85 plus shipping, but you do not get the better range of x50.
v1 upgrade prices vary from 100 to 300 depending on how old it is.
Considering that you can get damn near $300 for even an old one on e-bay - why not sell it and get a new one?

If it was that recent - you could’ve sold it on e-bay for $350 - point stands.
Radar detector are useless these days unless you are doing city driving. Cops are getting sneakier and Laser can be used from far distances.
^ i still see way more KA from troopers than laser, and my 8500 x50 picks that up from way out.
Locally on the I-290 and I-90, you wont see radar anymore. I have been seeing laser for the last 1.5 years. The I90 heading towards Rochester, troopers are using under cover cars now too.
i have not got hit with laser on the 290 yet and i always drive it
i drive the 290 and 190 daily and I have yet to see a laser. Maybe my radar detector sucks, but I do get KA signals.
