Well The best part about the rb20 is the stock exhuast manifold has a t3 flange. There is a guy on gtrcanada that is runnin a basically bone stock rb20 with a bigger turbo and standalone ems in a 240 doin 10.4 1/4 mile time. So get a big t3 turbo and slap it on.
Stu, could you snap a pic of that screamer pipe you got for me?
I’m curious to see if I can make one. Or just buy it off you. You say it clears steering shaft, so I’m very interested.
I LOVE loud…so it seems to suit me perfectly.
I’ll take some
pics for you. It’s on the car right now. I just wanted to see if I liked it or not. It’s loud but I dunno if I like loud. Def gave me at least another 10 hp
Oh… I got some new plugs today… car runs much better… NGK V-Power BCPR6EY-11 (VG30T 300ZX Plugs). Just would like to let fellow RB owners know these work… they’re 6.99 for 2 at shitty tire.
Sweet thanks for the info. I’ll have that screamer pipe ready to sell this week. First 150 takes it. I’ll try and snap a pic tomorow.
Better than BKR7E’s???
What fuel do you use and how much boost?
Well. I have needed a new and better straight pipe since the birth of the first one. After Shanny, she got all bent to shit. So, yesterday I was bored since the G decided to stay home and do homework.
Here is “Version 2” lol
Tell me what you think. I have some ideas for the next one already.
I’m also thinking I’m gonna change the tip angle.
And remember these were taken with my BB. So very shitty quality.
Not to bad for a MIG welder eh.
Had to make a damn flange. That sucked balls.
She sits pretty high now. A lot less bends as well.
The welds started gettin ugly as I was gettin hungry…so I was rushing near the end.
Used my old 4" SS tip
It looks like it stick out a lot in this photo cause the angle I was on. If your looking straight down it is about 1/2" outboard of the bumber.
Probably going to bring it in and lessen the angle this week sometime.
Nice exhaust, I must say.
All I can say is, I heart my baby RB.
RB20 is now my fave choice out of all three. They take a beating like no other.
Also, when in good health, they make really good jam for what they are.
I have under 3000 in my build, including Apexi DP and Apexi Catback.
I ran a 8.92 at 82MPH in the 1/8th mile. I was lapping at Cayuga and wanted to hit the strip. They closed the 1/4 for the night.
8.92 translates into 13.88 in the 1/4 according to the conversion tables.
That’s not bad at all for bald tires.
My 60 foot times were pretty effin bomb. Slipped the fuck out of the clutch almost all the way out to negate the dreaded wheel hop.
My mods:
-Tomei 2way
-(At the time) Blitz Nur Spec Catback
-(At the time) STOCK SHITTY Downpipe
-Garret Core FMIC with all hard piping
Thats all. Car was hooking good, even with bald tires. It’s all in abusing the shit out of your clutch in the launch. Always start your launch at the second light, never wait for the green. You won’t redlight for real.
All in all, I would say, not bad for a STOCK car. All i had was really a catback and FMIC for mods and it ran a sub 14 second 1/4 and sounded HELLA good doing it.
The GTS-T’s that night were running high 9’s to 10’s in the 1/8th. Goes to show a little less weight and a hard launch goes a very long way in drag racing.
1 second difference in the 1/8th mile is HUGE!!!
I’m shooting for a mild build with instant spool.
I’m almost there.
-NEO or 18G or big 16G turbo from a Mitsu.
-GTR 440cc (Obtained)
-Chipped ECU, fine tuned with a SAFC (Obtained)
-Garret FMIC (installed)
-Apexi Full Exhaust turbo back (installed)
-Tial External Wastegate
-Tomei PON Cams
That should net me 300WHP with INSTA SPOOL. That’s all I want for a wicked lapping car and occasional drift car.
Forgot to add valve springs and a metal HG. That’s it. Getting a bare head for free so I’m gonna get that ported while I’m at it. Should be a fun little motor.
I would also like to switch it over to some Mckinney Mounts later on. I really don’t like how my motor sits with a RB20 cross member.
I wish I had mo-money
My car would have had 450whp before it even hit the roads with the RB
Sounds like a good build dude. You should be able to make around 350 if not more with that set-up.
If you find a 25 turbo. Let me know. I need one. Unless I dish for a 3076R.
BAH. Gotta fix body damage.
Seems like people are coming around to RB’s now
Welcome to the more torquey world lol
How the he’ll is my car doin no better then 14.45 in te 1/4? It doesn’t make sense how others are doin 13s. My car runs perfect and is sittin at about 14 psi. I am not doin anything wrong. Launches are near perfect reactions and I’m limiting my wheel spin by going slighlty easy off the line. Ugh I need a bigger turbo.
Stu, I am in the same boat as you lol.
I been draggin for years too.
I was running a stock boost pretty much. Maybe a little creep. I was using a extnded hose tee off the WG acting as a partial bleeder. .6 bar or so.
Its all in the launch, plus I shift hard. I don’t let off for third gear. Or fourth.
I haven’t drag raced all that much but I ised to go street racing every week back in the late 90’s and early 00’s.
Plus, I have a suspicion that I have a really healthy motor. It was also a cold night. Around 10 degrees. That plays a HUGE role.

Ok well I was shifting hard and launching decently hard and never shifted into fourth and the best time was still 14.4. Plus it was 11 degrees out. I’ve drivin a 10 second pass down the strip in a nitrous trans am so I get launches and shifts. So I have no idea how you did 13s. I’d have to watch your run.
What suspension are the two of you running? I haven’t seen a 240 that can make a decent launch on coilovers ever… maybe that’s the difference.
Stock suspension or a softer spring/strut combo are usually your best bet unless you get into some drag-oriented stuff.
What were your trap speeds and 60’ times?
60 ft time was a 1.833 I think was my best time. Forget my trap speed. Also I’m using HE twin coil overs so that might be my problem.
Wow, that’s an awesome 60’ time for slow car, lol. It can’t be running right. See if you can find your trap speed.
The thing I love about the RB is that it always has pow on tap as far as daily driving goes. The KA felt weak below 3,000 RPM, and with the semi stop and go stuff that we all go through, in stock form, it didn’t have that little bit of power in the lower range that makes life easier. That and passing people is a joke.
Another thing is that with the KA I had to shift into 2nd on my 90 degree turns (without traffic). With the RB I can take it in 3rd and pull harder. I don’t just fall out of any decent power like the KA. So far it is fun fun. The shifter is a bit odd, sometimes I find myself missing a gear ( I missed 3rd last night driving home) so it took a few seconds to hit it lol. I also stalled once thinking I had it in neutral when it was in forth (this was before I drove the car). On the plus side the throw is shorter, I just wish my shifter sat lower. No biggie.
RB I’m loving. Think I am going to call it Baby Godzira.
